'Kahani Chandrakanta Ki' tipped to go off air

Sahara One's 'Kahani Chandrakanta Ki', second season of Chandrakanta which is Doordarshan's biggest grosser on 90s, has come to an end.

Former Miss India Shikha Swaroop played the lead character again hit the tube on June 6 last year.

Actor Santosh Shukla stepped into the shoes of Shahbaaz Khan to play Maharaj Virendra Singh.

Rahul Mahajan's wife Dimpy  was also featured as an Icchadhari Naagin Jawala.  She was seen plotting a vengeance on a dacoit, Mangal Singh (Inder Kumar) because he killed Jeewan(Santosh Shukla).

In last couple of months the show has undergone a lot of changes with the lead actor of the show being shown the door and the characters of Maharaja Virendra Singh and Jeewan ending prematurely.

Despite of strong story line and fabulous performance, sequel of fantasy drama is not able to garner TRPs. The show was under scanner from last 3-4 months. Now we hear that finally its going off air March 27th.

Producer Sunil Agnihotri confirmed the news.

Shikha  who is well known as face of Chandrkanta said, “I am glad because I got another opportunity to play the same character in the second season of the show. Hum toh mehaz kirdar hai, asli hero toh channel aur producer hai. If they decided to end the show then they must have a reason behind it, after all they are the boss. I respect their decision.”

We contacted Santosh Shukla aka Virendra Singh and Jeewan, “I am little bit sad because the show is close to me. But I believe every good thing has to end. I am really really thankful to Sunil ji for giving me this opportunity. I am sure audience will miss Chandrakanta.

  3. We are human and we do mistakes at times. But when it is journalism, we have to get the facts right. Now, a renowned publication reported on Saturday, 24 March 2012, that Sahara One’s show Kahani Chandrakanta Ki is going off air on 27 March 2012. They also went ahead to get a confirmation from the serial’s producer, Sunil Agnihotri. But guys, they got it all wrong.

The real dope is that Kahani… has already gone off air. It aired its last episode on 23 March 2012. Due to this costume drama’s ever dipping numbers, the channel finally decided to pull the plug on it. Kahani… aired at the 7.30pm slot. Vikram Bhatt’s Haunted Nights’ repeat telecast will fill in the place.

We talked to Sunil and he confirmed that Kahani… has already bid adieu, “It went off air on 23 March. I have no idea what has been reported elsewhere. I have not given any such statement.”

He also shared with us that he is working on new project, an emotional drama, and will soon come up with another show on Sahara One.

Sunil, we wish you all the best for your future endeavours. And for others, get your facts right, folks!!
