TELLY DIVA: Eligible Bachelorette Chitrashi Rawat…

Remember ‘Komal Chautala’? The tomboyish hockey player who played a crucial role in India’s triumph against Australia in Shahrukh Khan Starrer ‘Chak De India’? Yes we are talking about choti-height-bada-dhamaka-girl Chitrashi Rawat. She has lately determined to make a comeback on small screen after doing Comedy Circus. We caught up with the stunning lady, who is currently seen as ‘Jwalamukhi Chautala’ in Sab TV’s F.I.R. Here she talks about her journey, her show, romance and future plans…

Talking about her journey so far she said, “I would say, till now my journey has been as incredible one. Even though it had been full of challenges, hard knocks, basically an absolute roller coaster ride but my strength & my family support got me through it. And for all I know it has been worth it and I’m blessed.” She hails from the 'land of landscapes' Dehradun.  As a child she was an absolute nut cracker, tom boyish, naughty and adventurous.  She was a complete entertainer for her family and is still tagged as Nautanki by her friends. “I would play all the galli guccha games with my childhood mates and mostly with guys. Cricket, football, gilli dannda and all such outdoors games were the things I had to be a part of. Wandering around in jungle searching for some kind of treasure to…Good lord what all I used to do. All I can say is that I had quite a wicked childhood,” she laughed and said.

She started playing hockey when she was in 6th grade and even represented the Uttarakhand hockey team in the National Championship. Now she is into acting and shooting round the clock for her show. Hockey is one of those things she misses the most in life. She made a puppy-face and said in a complaining tone, “For someone who’ve only aspired of wearing a blue jersey with ‘India’ written on back of course I miss it .How much I wish I could play Hockey in Mumbai but it’s so difficult. Hockey is not a game that you can play anywhere.” Chitrashi used to play it in St.Andrews College, Mumbai where she was pursuing BMM but unfortunately that didn’t last too long. Her work commitments were too hectic after the release of her debut film ‘Chak De India’. However, whenever she goes to her hometown she does visit her field where she used to play with her mates.
In any event involving promotion of Hockey I’m always there. Currently, I’ve like 3 Hockey sticks in my house which I see every day to remind myself that where I come from. Moreover I don’t want my memories with Hockey to go fuzzy & distant as the time passing by. After all like everything else memories are ephemeral,” she whispered while showing us her 3 beloved Hockey sticks.

Chitrashi is currently juggling between her films commitment & FIR. To cut a long story short about her journey as an actor she said, “After ‘Chak De India’ my destiny took a 360 degree turn. I was in Jabalpur for my Jr.National Tournament where my director Shimit Amit found me & within no time I was flying high towards glory. After the film became a blockbuster hit, there was no looking back. I kept on getting good work. I was just carried there by the current like in a flowing river. I’m fortunate enough to have work with some of the good directors, actors & been a part of some big films like Fashion with Mathur Bhandarkar, Luck with Soham Shah, Tere Naal Ho Love Gaya with Kumar Turani.”

She went numb and had no reaction when producers Mrs. & Mr. Kohli offered F.I.R to her. She is very well aware of unpredictability of industry and being a sportsperson she decided to give it a try. Rawat took a deep breath and said, “Even after when I had singed my contract I couldn’t believe it that I did perhaps because I was stepping into the TV industry. It was nerve wrecking at first. I knew it was a long time commitment and lots of sacrifices had to be made, but the show like FIR was too hard to resist. I wouldn’t have got any better deal.”

She replaced Kavita Kaushik (the original face of FIR) and is playing Jwalamukhi who is daughter of Chandramukhi. The actress doesn’t take it as a replacement, “She’ll always be the Chandramukhi & I am Jwalamukhi.”  Stepping in Kavita’s shoes was a big deal. But the only pressure Chitrashi felt was to get the Haryanvi accent right, for which Kavita (Chandramukhi Chautala) received lots of accolades. “I had a very little knowledge of Haryani accent and that’s too because of the little sting I had in Chak De India,” quips the petite lady.

We asked what love means to her? She smiled and said, “When you are open and honest, straightforward, trustworthy, confident in yourself and you know that the other person is also imbibed with those things as well, to me; that is love.” She added further, “The person has chosen to see only the best in you, to encourage you, to believe in you, to bring out the best qualities in you, to comfort you, to nurture you, to support you mentally, emotionally, verbally, spiritually and accept you with all your flaws & mistakes. I call that love.”

She think she is a diehard romantic person and like all those typical things like walking on the beach on a lovely moon light, dancing away to glory together, mushy love notes, songs, flowers or simply sitting at home doing nothing just talking. She is definitely an eligible spinster but is not keen to mingle. “The only mingling I want right now is with my work. At this point of time I’m on a different trip and that is self discovering. There’re so many questions I’ve that I need to figure out. I’m too self-occupied right now,” she declared.

Rapid Fire with Chitrashi...

Chitrashi’s dream role...
Ahaa...I would love to play a silent assassin in an action film, like a ninja or something (laughs).

Chitrashi’s dream actor to work with…
(After thinking about it for a while) My list is pretty long. I would want to work with all kind of actor’s good, bad, great or non-actor as long as I’m getting to act. It'll always be a learning process. However, if I had to take one name it has to be Mr Bachchan for obvious reasons of course.

Chitrashi’s fitness mantra…
Whether its hockey, kick boxing, martial arts or running, I've always turned to sports to satisfy my need for fun, fitness & a healthy dose of emulation. More recently, I've added weight training to my workout routine since due to my hectic shooting schedules & odd timings, gym is the only place I can go and sweat it out even late at night. And of course eating right & healthy is important.

Chitrashi’s beauty mantra…
Always be happy & always wear a smile.

Chitrashi’s fashion funda…
I like nice t-shirts or t-backs with nice pair of shorts. That’s my most favourite combo.

When Chitrashi is free she loves to…
I love to watch world cinema, listen to music, read books, photography, painting, travelling basically anything related with entertainment!!

The real Chitrashi is...
Chitrashi is wacky yet much sorted in life. She is very carefree, happy go lucky kind of a girl and likes to keep it that way. To actually know her one need to be really close to her & once one is they are in for a treat (laughs). Its madness what my friends says it.

Future plans…
My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humour & with some style.

Your message for our readers...
Keep pouring your love to me.  We actors always need your love and appreciation. Its encourage us to work much harder. And I promise you to entertain you all for as long as I can. I wish you all a great deal of happiness. Love & light.
