COLORS redefines love with Rangrasiya

Jaipur, December 19, 2013: Hatred… Betrayal... Deceit... Destruction… These are words that we seldom associate with the warm feeling of love. With the launch of Rangrasiya, COLORS, for the first-time, redefines hate while exploring the mystique of love. Theatrically shot in the harsh rugged desert terrains along the boundaries of Rajasthan, Rangrasiya breaks away from the cult of conventional soaps, and sets out to negate all known perceptions of love.  Produced by the makers of the blockbuster love story Madhubala…Ek Ishq Ek Junoon, Nautanki Films is all set to unveil yet another great saga with Rangrasiya that premieres on 30th December 2013, every Monday to Friday at 9.30PM, on COLORS.

Speaking about the show, Prashant Bhatt, Weekday Programming Head – COLORS, said, “We share a great working relationship with Nautanki Films and are looking forward to re-creating magic on screen with a gripping and edgy storyline like Rangrasiya. With the show, we wish to unravel a new narrative that captures every emotion including love, hate, joy, sadness, pain, guilt, bitterness, hope, aspiration, and vengeance. Through the compelling portrayal of the explosive relationship between Paro and Rudra who are inadvertently destined to meet, we hope our viewers will enjoy this unconventional love story presented to them.”

Rangrasiya is an edgy love story ignited by intense hatred and fuelled by circumstances that bring a simple village girl, Paro (Sanaya Irani) and army officer, Rudra (Ashish Sharma) together. For Rudra, love is need-based, beauty is deceit, and work is duty and for Paro, love is hope, beauty is extreme and duty is vengeance. The show has been shot extensively across arid terrains and rann of Jaisalmer and dunes of Jodhpur.

Speaking about the launch of his second venture on COLORS with Rangrasiya, Saurabh Tewari from Nautanki Films, said, “My association with COLORS goes back more than five years and the channel’s DNA is engraved in me. The USP of the show is that every character other than the heroine is grey; she has her own journey to endure. There is no villain, but every character is real in terms of characterisation. The hero does not confine to the usual norms that are seen on television today.”

Adding to this, Abhinav Shukla from Nautanki Films, said, “With the success of Madhubala on COLORS, we wanted to raise the bar for Rangrasiya in terms of the visual scale and narrative. From visual conceptualisation, to the scale and experimentation with the characters, everything is real.”

Speaking about her newest venture on television, Sanaya Irani aka Paro, said, “I took up Rangrasiya as a challenge because I was eager to experiment with my character as Paro; and it wasn’t really easy portraying her. Walking barefoot in the scorching desert gave me blisters on the soles of my feet, but that did not deter me in any way. The excitement to do something different enabled me to move on. I am thoroughly enjoying every moment while shooting for Rangrasiya and I hope that my fans will take delight as I reprise the role of Paro.”

Commenting on his role, Ashish Sharma aka Rudra, said, “For portraying the character of Rudra, my keyword was intense. Everything I did, even in my day-to-day life incorporated that sentiment. Rudra is a rebel in every aspect of the word. With my portrayal of Rudra, I hope to find the love of audiences through the despise they feel for my character. That will be my ultimate win!

The story is set in Birpur, a small village that witnesses a grand wedding celebration between borders once every year. One such wedding is that of Paro that is gatecrashed by the BSD, led by Rudra to investigate the illegal smuggling of arms and ammunition. However as fate would have it, this incident shatters Paro’s life leading to an unexpected turn of events.

Rangrasiya boasts of a strong and dynamic ensemble cast which comprises of noted actors like Sadiya Siddiqui, Tarun Khanna, Ananya Khare and Neha Narang who will be seen supporting the lead pair of Sanaya Irani and Ashish Sharma on the show. Rangrasiya is directed by ace director Siddharth Sen Gupta of Balika Vadhu fame.
