TAM RATINGS: TVM(TRP) & GVT(GRP) Ratings 2014- Week 30

Week 30 of TAM 2014 was dominated by Colors as the channel added maximum viewership on the back of improved ratings of almost all of its shows. The spurt in viewership helped the channel reach closer to 400-mn mark and claim No. 3 position.

According to data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 30 of TAM 2014 (July 20 – July 26) for CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus continued to lead the Hindi GEC genre followed by Zee TV at No. 2. Colors overtook Life OK to become No. 3 channel. Sony and SAB TV remained at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.

Zee TV’s premium Hindi GEC, ‘Zindagi’, dropped to 23 GTVM in its fourth week of launch against last week’s 29 GTVM.

Among the new shows launched in Week 30, Shastri Sisters on Colors opened at 2.6 TVM and averaged at 1.9 TVM. Laut Aao Trisha on Life OK opened at 2.5 TVM and averaged at 2.2 TVM.

Sony’s latest mega fiction show featuring Amitabh Bachchan, ‘Yudh’ dropped to 0.8 TVM in its second week. The show had opened at an average rating of 1.4 TVM last week.

Star Plus continued to lead the pack with viewership above 700-mn mark. The channel recorded gross viewership of 709 GTVMs with a relative share of 28.70% (last week 712 TVM with 29.74% relative share).

Zee TV recorded a gross viewership of 439 GTVM and a relative share of 17.77% (last week 436 TVM and 18.21% relative share).

Colors added maximum viewership this week and bounced back to No. 4 position. It recorded 398 GTVM and a relative share of 16.11% (last week 347 TVM with 14.49% relative share). Shastri Sisters on Colors opens at 2.6 TVM and averages at 1.9 TVM.

Life OK slipped to No. 4 position despite the channel held its viewership at 361 GTVM. The channel had a relative share of 14.62% (last week 361 TVM and 15.08%).

Sony witnessed growth in its viewership this week and recorded 288 GTVM with a relative share of 11.66% (last week 270 TVM and 11.28% relative share).

SAB TV too added more viewers this week. The channel’s gross viewership was recorded at 275 GTVM with a relative share of 11.13% (last week 268 TVM and 11.19% relative share).

TAM RATINGS- Week 30, 2014 : Nick consolidates its lead with 211 TVTs

Nickelodeon continues to stun its competition for second week in a row.

Nick has garnered 211 TVTs (as against 201 in wk 29) this week riding on the popularity of its character Ninja Hattori among other tent poles as well. Turner’s mainstay Cartoon Network maintains its second position with 193 TVTs (193).

Following closely is Pogo with 190 TVTs (179) at number three; Disney dropped to number four with 188 TVTs (190) and Hungama at five with 175 TVTs (172).

The most watched show in the genre was Pokemon on Hungama followed by Oggy and the Cockroaches on Cartoon Network.

In terms of the reach of the channels, Cartoon Network’s 39 per cent beat Nick’s 37 per cent, closely followed by Pogo with 35 per cent.

There has been a lot of speculation about when next season of Bigg Boss will see the light of day. If the latest buzz is to be believed the next installment of Color's well known controversial reality will start from third week of September, most probably from 20 September, 2014.

Bigg Boss 8 to replace Beintehaan & Rangrasiya

The show will be aired between 9.00 p.m to 10.00 p.m, we had already reported that Bigg Boss 8 will replace Beintehaan & Rangrasiya.

Will Sonali Raut get a resurrection in The Xpose sequel?

Newbie Sonali Raut gathered a lot of praise for her acting prowess and versatility in the suspense thriller The Xpose. Her central character was integral to the plot, but as it dies in the movie, hopes of her admirers crashed to see her in the sequel Himesh Reshammiya announced.

But as they say you never know what’s coming for you. There is some speculation whether Sonali’s character may get a reboot. So will it be like a resurrection or a reincarnation aka Deepika Padukone of Om Shanti Om? It’s a bit early to say, but the new-age gal is not too fluttery about it.

“I’ve always believed in living in the present and being happy about it. Let’s see what the future holds,” Sonali quipped with a wink. What can we say but that the gal sure has her head on her shoulders! Attagirl.

Drashti Dhami and Vivian D'Sena starrer show 'Madhubala — Ek Ishq Ek Junoon' is likely to wrap up in 3rd or 4th week of August. It was supposed to end on July 12, but got an extension by a month.

Madhubala will make way for new show Udaan, which is based on Mahesh Bhatt's unfinished film Girvi. Spandan Chaturvedi plays the protagonist, where as Sai Deodhar, Lubna Salim and Kiran Karmarkar are playing prominent roles

Now we heard, she is at loggerheads with Farnaz Shetty, who plays Gunjan in Yash Patnaik's Ek Veer Ki Ardaas...Veera on Star Plus.

Kinshuk Mahajan to play lead role opposite Shefali Sharma in Rashmi Sharma's next

Kinshuk Mahajan, who shot to fame with Rajan Shahi's popular show Bidaai is back to shine on small screen.

The actor did a disappearance act from television after Afsar Bitiya went off air. He was last seen in an episodic of Encouter. Now we heard that the actor is roped to play male lead in Rashmi Sharma's next on Sony Entertainment.

According to our sources, "Shefali Sharma, who was last seen in Colors' Bani Ishq Da Kalma is playing female lead and Kinshuk is finalized to play male protagonist opposite her. The show is another saas-bahu drama. Kinshuk will be again seen playing a chocolaty boy avatar, who fell in love with Shefali."

When contacted, Kinshuk confirmed the news, "Yes I am doing that show and will be starting shooting from tomorrow."

We tried calling Rashmi but all our efforts were in vain.

TAM RATINGS- Week 29, 2014 : Channel NICK leads with 201 TVTs

The team at Nickelodeon would certainly be in seventh heaven this week as the channel has clearly left the rest of the pack dumbstruck.

Nick has garnered 201 TVTs (as against 210 in wk 28) this week riding on the popularity of its character Ninja Hattori among other tent poles as well.

Turner’s mainstay Cartoon Network shed 32 TVTs this week to come in second with 193 TVTs (225).

Following closely is Disney Channel with 190 TVTs (214) at number three;

Pogo is at number four with 179 TVTs (184) and Hungama at five with 172 TVTs (169).

In the week 29 of TAM TV ratings, there is finally a new entrant. Zeel’s new general entertainment channel (GEC), Zindagi has entered the race garnering 29 million GVTs, up from 27 million GVTs in the earlier week.

For the rest of the GECs, it has been an incredible week, with almost all witnessing a rise in the viewership. The main highlight, apart from Zindagi, is Life OK rising up to third position.

Star Plus recorded gross viewership of 712 GTVMs on Week 29 as compared to 673 GTVMs in Week 28. Three of the top shows belonged to the channel – ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’, ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ and ‘Saath Nibhana Saathiya’.

Zee TV too saw growth in its gross viewership at 436 GTVMs , as against 425 GTVMs in the previous week.

Life OK climbed up to the third position, garnering a gross viewership of 361 GTVMs , pushing down Colors. The channel returns to the third spot after a gap of two weeks. Life OK has recorded 325 GTVMs in Week 28.

Colors slipped to the fourth position, recording a gross viewership of 347 GTVMs in Week 29 as compared to 342 GTVMs in the previous week.

SET(Sony Entertainment Television) was the only top GEC to witness a decline in its gross viewership in Week 29 at 270 GTVMs , as against 279 GTVMs in the previous week. The channel premiered the much anticipated series ‘Yudh’ in Week 29, which marks Amitabh Bachchan’s foray into TV fiction. As per data available, the inaugural episode garnered average rating of 1.4 TVM.

Sab TV also recorded gains in its gross viewership at 268 GTVMs in Week 29, as against 248 GTVMs in the previous week.

Zee Zindagi, which was launched three weeks back, garnered gross viewership of 29 GTVMs in Week 29, a marginal growth from 27 GTVMs in the previous week.

Kushal Punjabi, who is currently seen shaking his legs in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa supports an NGO called Crayon Kids. The kids are adherent fan of Bollywood, so Kushal invited them for the shoot.

One of the kid sang 'Ghagra' for Madhuri Dixit Nene from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and insisted her to dance with them. Dancing Diva could not stop herself from joining them. Later, she gracefully danced with them on her song 'Aaja Nachle..'

Actress Digangana Suryavanshi, who is currently seen playing the title role in 'Veera', is getting too big for her shoes. Thought she is just 16 years old, the teenager gal is said to be treading on the toes of her co-actors much to their fright.

It is said that, the actress is giving a tough time to the Production House & co-stars and is throwing a lot of tantrums on the sets. Since she is the protagonist, she thinks that she can get away with anything.

Digangana thinks she is big star and deserves to be treated like a queen. The pretty girl makes her co-stars, Sneha Wagh, Shagufta Ali, Shivin Narang, Vishal Vashisht and Vishwapreet Kaur wait endlessly while shooting.

Her co-star on condition of anonymity, told us, “She is really getting on my nerves, I haven't seen such a rude actress till date. And OMG her mother, she interferes in everything.”

Another actor adds, "It's hilarious to watch her speak English with a foreigner's accent. She always speaks Hindi with an English accent.”

Most of her co-stars have unanimously complained against her rude behaviour to the production house. Star Plus is also aware about this

For those uninitiated, Digangana earlier played Nuzhat in 'Qubool Hai', had to leave the show on account of her tiffs with co-actors Surbhi Jyoti, Archana Taide and Rishab Sinha.

Do you remember, in Bigg Boss Season 6 – ‘Alag Che’ a talking parrot 'Radhe' was introduced as one of the house guest? At that time that charming-naughty guest won heart of the viewers. But the Macaw parrot, who was supposed to stay for 90 days went missing after few weeks.

While shooting for the finale episode, host Salman Khan by mistake revealed the reason behind Radhe's sudden disappearance.

We were quite surprised when Dabang Khan murmured, "Bichara Radhe, bhagwaan uski atma ko shanti de.” However that part was chopped from the finale episode.

Later we came to know, Radhe died of natural cause after some weeks. But at that time it was kept under wrap, because the channel and Endemol India Private Limited didn't want to invite one more controversy.

Salman Khan should return to host Bigg Boss 8

Amidst widespread speculation that other superstars Shah Rukh Khan or Akshay Kumar may replace Salman Khan as the host of Bigg Boss Season 8 on Colors, recently Salman himself gave a statement to the media in Mumbai. “If I don’t host, then I think Shah Rukh Khan would be a good host,” he said during the launch of the song Devil for his upcoming film Kick.

But Bollywood PR guru Dale Bhagwagar, who has handled public relations for the maximum number of Bigg Boss contestants like Rakhi Sawant, Kashmera Shah, Sambhavna Seth, Sherlyn Chopra, Pooja Misrra, Diana Hayden, Shamita Shetty, Ashmit Patel, Vindu Dara Singh, Zulfi Syed, Salil Ankola, Amar Upadhyay and Anita Advani, feels Salman Khan should return.

“I have a feeling Salman Khan should return as the host in BB8. His aura over Bigg Boss is inimitable. Few can manage to generate hype as easily as Salman Khan,” acknowledges the PR specialist. The publicist who has also handled the media for Shilpa Shetty during Big Brother is considered to be the best PR with controversies and hype.

“Bigg Boss is the greatest reality show Indian television has ever seen and Salman is a master with charm and a perfectionist with entertainment. The synergy has always created magic,” remarks Dale who is a seasoned hand with controversy, so much so that he was himself invited to participate in Bigg Boss 7 as a contestant, though he chose not to.

Apart from the Dabangg megastar, Bigg Boss has earlier seen celebrity hosts like Amitabh Bachchan, Shilpa Shetty and Sanjay Dutt.
