The integration of rural data in Week 41 of BARC ratings had thrown up major surprises with free-to-air channels like Zee Anmol and Star Utsav giving their network’s flagship Hindi GECs a run for their money. Zee Anmol, which was placed third last week, has overtaken Colors to take the No. 2 spot in Week 42 (October 17- 23) of BARC ratings.

At wee hour when the entire house is asleep, Suyyash and Prince are seen toiling at the Lagaan task to earn few extra brownie points. As people wake up to ‘Chakkar Ghumiyo’ they are dreading the thought of churning flour under the scorching sun. Meanwhile, determined at dutifully meting out his responsibility, Arvind tries to keep a watch but falls asleep on the park bench. Rimi declares that she wants to give up because she has lost the will power to push herself through the task while others are in agreement with her. Tired by the arduous Lagaan task, the contestants are coming up with innovative techniques to win the task and end their ordeal. Rochelle and Mandana are trying hard to sustenance and continue with the task.  At the same time, they also discuss how Yuvika is wasting too much time while making paranthas.

Hogaya Dimaagh Ka Dahi gets a good opening..

Fauzia Arshi's rip-roaring comedy has received a good opening along with Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2, reiterating the audience's faith in smart and comic movies.

The film takes laughter to its original form with five great comedians Om Puri, Sanjay Mishra, Raajpal Yadav, Razzaq Khan and the veteran Kader Khan coming together. Plus, it has an ensemble of songs by varied singers like Mika Singh, Kailash Kher, Kunal Ganjawala, Ritu Pathak and Fauzia Arshi herself, who has also composed the music.

As the contestants wake up to the famous Mitwa from the patriotism instilling movie Lagaan, the theme for the day is unknowingly set. The first conversation in the house revolves around heartbeats almost stopping when Prince declares that he would reclaim his bags for Rs. 30 Lakhs. Staying true to the theme of the song, Bigg Boss announces the Lagaan task. Appointing Aman and Kishwer as the zamindaars and Arvind Vegda as the supervisor of the task, the rest of the housemates are given the role of workers.

#BiggBoss9 : Day 8 Synopsis

Upset that ex-boyfriend Ankit Gera got evicted, Roopal Tyagi has an emotional outburst when Ankit bids goodbye to the Bigg Boss house. Guilty about nominating him for eviction, Roopal’s tears are being pacified by the housemates. While Digangana, Suyyash, Kishwer and Prince are telling Roopal that she can now be friends with Ankit outside the house, Roopal is unsure if they will even talk outside. Looking at Roopal’s condition, even Digangana and Kishwer cannot help themselves but shed a tear or two. Seeing that her emotions are playing havoc with her, Rochelle and Keith also try to make the damsel in distress feel better.

Ankit Gera was the last contestant to enter the Bigg Boss house along with his Gujju bhai Arvind Vegda but had the shortest journey in the Bigg Boss Nau house. Riding on the unpredictable chance of drama breaking out, Ankit Gera entered the house alongside ex-girlfriend Roopal Tyagi being one of the housemates.

After the drama which brought the house down yesterday, the housemates are ensuring they spend quality time with each other during the day. During a conversation with the housemates, Prince reveals a peevish prank he played as a kid. As a ritual in the pre-monsoon season when Prince was setting fire to the dried up leaves, he saw that a long-haired woman was drying her hair and his evil mind lit her Rapunzel-like hair on fire. Laughing out loud at his little prank, the housemates are surprised at how Prince is wired.

Recapping the night’s episode, the inmates are trying to find some relief from Arvind Vegda and Vikas Bhalla’s snores by sleeping next to them in turns. During this conversation, Mandana Karimi is adamant that she will not move her bed regardless of who is snoring and who is not. Adding that she is not a part of this discussion, she says that the other housemates can plan around this. Realising that the cause and effect relationship would put him and his partner in a lose-lose situation, Keith is taking Mandana aside to have a private word with her. Giving her logic behind why they should adjust, Keith tells her that Yuvika Choudhary has had sleepless nights too and has not said a word against anyone. Convinced, Mandana tells Yuvika that she is now willing to adjust because she thinks Yuvika is a sweet girl.

In week 40 (October 03 – 09, 2015) of the Hindi GEC genre, Star Plus maintained its leadership position despite a decline in ratings. Close on the heels of Star Plus was Colors with a gain in its ratings this week. Sony TV climbed to No.5 spot and went ahead of Sab TV.

According to select data (HSM : NCCS All : Individuals : BARC India base – C&S 1Lac+), Star Plus gained a lead in viewership of 28 million to reclaim the top spot with a gross viewership of 409 million. The channel had secured a viewership of 381 million in the previous week.
