"Be true to your work and your work will be true to you": Pratik Bharali

Pratik Bharali , model from Guhati based in Dehli did many Ramp walks including Kolkata Culture Fashion Week, FashionIASTA etc. He is recently shortlisted for Gladrags from Kolkata. I caught up with the model to know about his journey till date and his experience as a model.

Excerpts from his Interview:

Tell us bit about your journey so far.
I have started modeling when I was sixteen, its been 6 years now. It’s been a great journey of ups and downs, there were days where I have done back to back shows and also days when I didn't get shows for months. Been appreciated at times and also criticized but over all a great journey.

Have you attended fashion modeling courses?
No I have never attended any modeling courses, but yes i have worked with a lot of fashion designers, choreographers and grooming experts, I have learned a lot from these people at various  times. I don’t think that we need a classroom to learn something.

How did you start modeling? What was your first big break in the industry?
I did my first show when I was 16,  for a amateurish fashion show, it was a beach festival and had an audience of around 30,000. I still get goose bumps when I think about it.

What is your dream modeling job?
My dream was to walk for the biggest designers of the country and do fashion weeks, till date I have walked for Vikram Phadnis, Riyaz Ganjee, Virtues, Sabyasachi, Kallol Dutta, Abhishek Dutta and so on, I have already walked for Kolkata Couture Fashion Week and very recently the Wills India Fashion Week. It’s like living in a dream. But still I have my eyes set on my next project, which is Van Husen India Men's Fashion Week.

With due respect to models, do you agree with the statement, model can’t act?
In my opinion models should not act at all, because of the whole process of "models turning into actor"  the youth thinks that modeling is a medium to get into acting, my concept is "if you wanna get into ramp, learn ramp walk basics and ramp expression, if you want to act then learn acting and dancing." Don’t merge both the worlds and make modeling industry over populated.

We all know Casting Couch exists, not only the girls guys were also approached. What do you say?
Yes, Casting Couch exists, every profession has some ill effects in it. But one should know how to deal with it and stay away. Luckily I never had any experience as such. Be true to your work and your work will be true to you, though it may take time but success is assured with dignity.

When you’re not busy modeling, what are some of your favorite things to do?
Fortunately I am always busy with my modeling work or in events.  When I am free I go out with friends, I like making  new friends, partying and working out in the gym.

Cheers,
-K Himaanshu Shukla..

Honesty & devotion have vanished, now people work only for money : Alok Nath

Alok Nath is enormously talented and natural actor has come a long way since his amazingly successful role as Masterji in Ramesh Sippy`s Buniyaad.

We managed to catch Alok Nath for a candid chat to find out what changes has he witnessed in the film industry since his first mega serial ‘Buniyaad’ to his currently on air show ‘Yaha Mai Ghar GharKheli ‘.

To this he says, “Buniyaad was the first mega serial of its time &there was only one broadcasting channel Doordarshan.

Before Buniyaad, Hum Log & Ramayan were popular but buniyaad was the first Mega blockbuster soap. Initially it was aired once a week but on public demand it was showcased thrice a week on tv. We shot first 26 episodes like a film on 16mm, he recalls.”

Buniyaad created the magic which left people spellbound & surprised. In the night time when it was aired on TV, roads went vacant & silent. People used to invoke TV sets while watching ramayan. They used to respect artists whole heartedly.Today the television charm has diminished.

Directors, producers, and actors everybody used to work with faith & devotion. May be that is the reason why audience still remember those days. Buniyaad was a result of honesty and hard work.

During those days none of us had expected that large chunk of money will be fetched from TV in near future. Today television has become just like any other money making business.

Earlier we got latest News, Chitrahaar, Sports, Krishidarshan, movies and serials only on Doordarshan. After that private channels came, then few foreign channels. Gradually Honesty, reverence & devotion, all have vanished somewhere; now people work only for money.

In that era, artists used to get their money quickly, but now it takes 3-4 months to retrieve their cheques. Previous actors, directors all used to be trained people but now anybody pops up as a director, actor or producer which has marred the film making quality,” he quips.

He signs off by saying that “Ab survive karna thoda muskil hoo gaya hai, par badalte haalaat ke saath khud ko badalna seekh liya hai.”

Alokji’s achievements in the Bollywood and Television are noteworthy & applaud able and we wish this exceptionally brilliant actor will continue to rule both the silver and small screen.

Cheers,
-K Himaanshu Shukla..

Sara-Angad: Off screen buddies becomes toast of the town

Sapna Babul Ka... Bidaai, one of Star Plus' most popular show which ended last year, we caught up with one of the most magical onscreen Jodi Sara Khan and Angad Hasija in-between there hectic shooting schedule for a candid chat.  Here are excerpts from their interview:

If Rajan Shahi approach you for Bidaai season two, would you say yes?
Angad: I cannot comment on it at this moment. I am keen to be part of Bidaai season two as Bidaai is very close to me, but it depends upon the conditions also, as currently I am busy with Phulwa.
Sara: I don’t think Bidaai will be back with season two, and if it comes I am not sure I will do it or not. Currently I am committed to Ram Milayi Jodi and I want to concentrate on it, but if Rajan sir approaches me for Bidaai season two I will surely think on it.

What made Sara & Angad one of the best onscreen Jodi?:
Angad: We are best friends and we know each other from last three-four years off-screen, maybe that’s the reason, it was visible onscreen also.
Sara: We are best buddies and had a lot of fun on Bidaai set. We've been friends for a long time and though we are not working together we are still in touch with each other.

What is your favorite track in Bidaai?
Angad: Each and every track is special to me, there are so many memories associated with each track so I really can't point out one. All the tracks which I have done in Bidaai are memorable for me.  My character started as schizophrenic Alekh, who falls in love with Sara, and then he gets well and finally becomes a business tycoon. Bidaai gave me an opportunity to portray the character with lots of variations.
Sara: There are so many memorable tracks, like when I fell in love with Alekh and when I fight with Parul and cry. Bidaai is close to my heart.

Did you ever feel nervous while shooting romantic sequences with each other?
Angad: No, never because we are good friends, our off-screen chemistry helped us a lot. We know each other very well, so whenever such romantic scenes were to be filmed, I use to think that, chill it’s just Sara. The credit for our onscreen chemistry goes to my wife Pari. She is very supportive and trusts us a lot.
Sara:  Yes sometimes I felt nervous, initially I was uncomfortable, but gradually we became good friends, and then I never felt nervous. As Angad said when we have to shoot some romantic sequences we used to think, hey it’s just Angad.

How do you feel when you’re crazy fans call you SanGad(Sara+Angad) or SalEkh(Sadna + Alekh)?
Angad: I am extremely grateful to our fans, I feel good when people call us Salekh or Sangad. It shows how much they love us as a couple.
Sara: I feel overwhelmed; the credit goes to our fans.

Doesn’t Bidaai’s success put pressure on you to perform you the utmost in your next move?
Angad: Actually yes, Bidaai was a huge hit and a superb show, so working in any unspectacular show post bidaai wasn’t a good deal. I did Zara Nachke Dikha where I showed my dancing talent & then I opted for Phulwa, because the presentation and concept is quite different.
Sara: I think no success put pressure on me. When I left Bidaai I got offer from Bigg Boss and after Bigg Boss I got offer for Ram Milayi Jodi. I believe whatever I do in life I give it my best & leave the rest to the Allah’s desires.  If I put 100% effort into whatever I do I will surely get success.

Any Message to your fans.
Angad: You are very precious to me, a big thank you for all your love & affection. I am here because of you all; I really appreciate your support. You have appreciated my work in Bidaai, and I hope you like my character as "Shankar" in Phulwa.
Sara:  As always, a big thank you people for your love and blessings. Keep loving me and my show the way you do, and watch my show regularly.
