When 'Nazar' actress Sonyaa recreated Sridevi's iconic dance in freezing −37°C

Model-turned-actress Sonyaa recently got a break from Gul Khan's popular supernatural thriller 'Nazar' in which she was playing the role of daayan Ruby. The former 'Miss India New Zealand' decided to utilize the break and went for a aborad trip to spend quality time with her family. "For a daily soap actor sometimes it's hard to get a break for even a single day, but thankfully I got a long break that's why I went to USA for the holidays.," Sonyaa said.

Deepti Naval sees Sridevi, Madhuri in Yaariyaan newbie Rakul Preet

Rakul Preet who is set to enter Bollywood with Yaariyaan; the directorial debut of T-Series’ head honcho Bhushan Kumar’s wife Divya Kumar, is flattered.

While shooting for the upcoming movie, her senior co-star; the critically acclaimed Deepti Naval, praised Rakul to the skies; comparing her with Bollywood stalwarts such as Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit.

“I’m pleasantly surprised as much as I am delighted with the praise,” beams Rakul.

The newbie is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer and Deepti Naval is keen she pursues dance more seriously. “Deepti mam feels I should capitalize on my Indian looks and hone my dancing skills. She told me, she felt that none after Madhuri or Sridevi has taken that place.”

Rakul has earlier proved her versatility, starting out with films in the South. She also made her mark a year ago, when she participated in the Miss India beauty pageant.

The girl won various titles like Miss India People’s Choice, Miss Beautiful Eyes, Miss Beautiful Smile, Miss Fresh Face, Miss Talented, and emerged the third runner-up finalist.

Shakti Kapoor is India’s new gay icon

An online poll has rated Bollywood’s popular villain and comedian Shakti Kapoor as one of the foremost gay icons in the country.

He has joined the ranks with Hrithik Roshan, Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, Tamil actor Suriya (of Ghajini and Singham fame), Dhanush (of Kolaveri Di fame) and Arjun Rampal; who ‘literally’ got his balls held for four seconds by Shah Rukh Khan in Ra.One.

Kapoor being voted a gay icon is surely amusing. “Shakti Kapoor has always been known as a ladies man, which is also why he was sent into Bigg Boss with twelve women last year,” commented Bollywood PR guru Dale Bhagwagar.

“Inspite of being an extremely versatile actor, over the years, Brand Shakti Kapoor has entertained many with formulaic characters, some of which have seemed to poke fun at gay mannerisms too. Who can forget his super-famous goofy Balma act in the immensely successful Sridevi movie ChaalBaaz”, the publicist points out.

Of course! And then there was also the infamous sting operation where Kapoor was ‘caught’ with a girl (a planted reporter) in a Mumbai hotel. Ah! Those were the days! Now, at 59, being declared a ‘gay icon’ is surely coming a long way since then!!
