In one of the rare moments musician Ustaad Ghulam Ali had agreed to perform on screen for Suhaib Ilyasi directed film ‘498A - The Wedding Gift’. For the first time in his career, Ghulam Ali has not only sung a nationalist and patriotic song for the masses of India, but he also performed onscreen for the film. He was seen spouting dialogues and enjoying the experience with other star cast Farida Jalal, Alok Nath, Reema Lagoo and newcomer Shrishti Gautam.
“What is so surprising in this? I found the wordings of the song beautiful, music touched me and hence I agreed to sing. This song, in any case, can be for any country. It’s a song dedicated to one’s own watan. When I was asked to perform too on screen, I was initially skeptical but later got into the spirit of it. And why not,” asks he adding, “India and Pakistan were one country. There were two brothers till siyasat played its dirty game by separating them and creating a siyasi border in 1947. Lekin bhai to bhai hote hai, bhaiyon ka khoon ka rishta hota hai, bhaiyon ke beech naittifaqi ho sakti hai lekin wo hamesha ke liye alag kaise ho sakte hain?Hindustan aur Pakistan ke beech mazboot rishte the, hai aur aage bhi rahenge. To phir mein national song India ke liye gaau ya pakistaan ke liye kaya farak padta hai, mere music se do bhaiyon ke beech agar duri kam hoti hai to kayon nahi?”
Director Suhaib Ilyasi is naturally very happy because it adds just the right flavor to his story line.
Produced under the banner of Aliya Productions Pvt Ltd, this film deals with the misuse of the criminal Act 498A of IPC 1860 in our judiciary system.
Suhaib Ilyasi of ‘India’s Most Wanted’, is debuting as a director in Bollywood. The film has an ensemble cast of Alok Nath, Farida Jalal, Reema Lagoo, Supriya Karnik, Deepak Tijori, Sushma Seth etc. Lead of the film is played by new comers Haarsh Nagar and Shrishti Gautam. The music has been composed by Ray & Brotherhood.
