“Strings of Passion” is a story of three youths grappling with their own unique situations that make their life go through a emotional roller coaster ride. A youth centric film revolving around three post grad students - Neel, Manu and Amit who are best friends in college, this is a story of their relationships. From winning concerts to winning his father’s fiancĂ©e and from writing poems for band to writing a poem for his girlfriend and winning her heart, Strings of Passion will take you on a different high through the most romantic, embarrassing and even thought-provoking moments onscreen. Life seems all good until one day when one of the guys ends up in a ghastly gruesome incident that changes the course of their lives.
Yes! “Strings of Passion” deals with the controversial subject of Male Rape. Speaking on the issue of male rape, director Sanghamitra Chaudhuri says: “Male rapes are not fiction created in novels and movies. What happens to one of the guys (Manu) can happen to anyone at any place. While many believe that males are victims of rapes only in jails, prisons and hostels but statistics reveal that a large number of males become victim of sexual assaults and forced sodomy in much protected areas too. Though the controversial subject of Male Rape or sodomy in jails has been touched upon earlier in one of the films, this is the first time that this subject has been attempted at societal levels.”
With an ensemble cast that includes Zeenat Aman, Shubh Mukherjee, Rajesh Sharma, Indrani Halder and Paru Gambhir supported by the super-talented newbie Avalok Nagpal who has won not one but two Best Actor Awards in the National Category, “Strings of Passion” is a drama of love, life and passion, set in the City of Joy who have one thing in common - their love for music and life. Though this is his debut role, Avalok Nagpal was a regular on the theatre circuit in Delhi and SRC. A theatre personality, Avalok has done quite a few plays with renowned names in Delhi theatre circuit and was even part of Tom Alter’s theatre group performing with him even in Lahore. Also debuting in this 'slice of life' film is the season’s coolest couple Amit Trishaan and Sangita Sonali who we are sure will charm their way into everyone’s hearts.
Produced by Tricolor Creations, Eon Films and Mithuntara Movies with story, screenplay and direction by Sanghamitra Chaudhuri, “Strings of Passion” has six beautiful songs and is extensively shot in Kolkata & Mumbai. Winner of Best Film, Best Actor and Best Actress Awards, this film is due for release this July 26th both in Hindi & Bengali across Pan India and is going to amaze you, intrigue you and also set you thinking.
