Madhuri Dixit's father Shankar Dixit passes away

Dancing Diva Madhuri Dixit Nene lost her father Shankar Dixit(91) this morning(13 September, 2013) following prolonged illness.The doctors had informed the family yesterday that his health has taken a turn for the worse. According to Madhuri's office the entire family was by his side when his father passed away.

Arrangements were made to release Madhuri from the dance reality show judged by her along with Remo D'Souza and Karan Johar. Priyanka Chopra was to fill in for her. It was decided that the latter will give a tribute to Madhuri by performing to a medley of her popular numbers.However, the makers shot with Madhuri as she was present at the shoot on Thursday. Yesterday she was shooting for the Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa finale with Hrithik Roshan.

Madhuri's contemporary Sridevi expressed her condolences over twitter: @MadhuriDixit Shocked to hear about your father. My condolences to the entire family. RIP Shri Dixit.
