For a long time, there have been rumours that Gashmeer Mahajani wants to quit Imlie. On Wednesday, the actor posted an announcement on his social media account, writing, 'Unthread-Unplug-Detach-Cut-Gone (sic).'
Gashmeer, who portrays Aditya Tripathi in the popular television show Imlie, has reportedly put down his papers. Also, we hear his last day of shoot might be month end.
Mahajani debuted with Muskurake Dekh Zara (2010) and later did theater for four years. Later he made his Marathi film debut in 2015 with Carry On Maratha and featured in Hindi TV shows too.
In November last year, Mahajani had affirmed that he is not quitting the show. In an interview with a leading newspaper, he had said, "I’m not planning to quit the show. I’m allowed to work my way, the producers are paying me, taking good care of me and everybody’s happy. So, why would I leave the show?"
Why Gashmeer Mahajani is abruptly quitting Imlie?
Well, this isn't something that happened overnight. Gashmeer had actually submitted his papers a few weeks earlier. The producers were attempting to persuade him to stay because he is the show's face and the track revolves around him and the female lead, Sumbul Touqeer Khan. All of their efforts, however, were in vain when Gul Khan, the producer, refused to adhere to certain of Gashmeer's terms and conditions.
From the first day of the shoot, it was evident that Gashmer would continue to shoot for his Marathi films and for the web alongside Imlie, which the producers had agreed to. However, as the plot proceeded and the show's popularity grew, Gashmeer was unable to pursue other projects.
He apparently only gave the makers 10 days in a month to shoot his sequence, which was insufficient. After much deliberation, Gashmeer decided to leave the show.
What will happen after Gashmeer's exit?
The producers have already begun looking for a successor, and we've heard that an actor is close to being cast. Already the focus has shifted from Gashmeer and onto the newcomer to the show, Fahmaan Khan.
