Actor Saurabh Shrikant Kaushik, renowned for his portrayal of Tatya Kote Patil in Mere Sai-Shraddha Aur Saburi, is gearing up for his next significant role with Balaji Telefilms' Pracchand Ashok. In this new show, he embraces the character of Ashok's step-brother, promising audiences a dynamic performance. In an exclusive interview with a leading newspaper, he sheds light on his preparation and the challenges he's embracing for this role.
To embody the vigour and intensity demanded by his character, Saurabh divulged, "Preparing for 'Pracchand Ashok' has been a journey of physical and mental endurance. I aimed to deliver a performance that truly resonates with viewers, and I spared no effort to immerse myself in the character. I've undergone rigorous training, particularly in Mixed Martial Arts and Sword fighting."
Delving into the historical backdrop of the show, Saurabh explored the life of Mauryan Empire monarch Ashok. He said, "Upon signing the contract, I delved into the history of Pataliputra and Magadha. Understanding Ashok's journey was paramount for me. I researched extensively online and even listened to podcasts on YouTube. His evolution from a warrior to a compassionate ruler fascinated me. The 'Kalinga War' was a pivotal moment in his life, and delving into its intricacies has been enlightening."
As he prepares to step into the shoes of Ashok's step-brother, Saurabh is excited about the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. "Padmak, Ashok's step-brother, is a complex character who stops at nothing to bring him down. Portraying such a morally ambiguous character is both daunting and exhilarating. 'Pracchand Ashok' recounts the tale of Samrat Ashok and is produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor under the banner of Balaji Telefilms. Adnan Khan and Mallika Singh will be seen playing the lead roles.
