I wouldn’t want to leave 'Madhubala' even for a day : Drashti Dhami
Drashti Dhami doesn’t need any introduction. The graceful lady is undoubtedly one of the best actresses of small screen. This pretty girl will be seen shaking her legs on different Bollywood numbers in Jhalak Dikhla Jaa Season 6.
Drashti is shooting round the clock for ‘Madhubala’ and like any daily soap actor she is dead tired at the end of the day. When we asked her how much time she is giving to the Jhalak? “3-4 hours per day," she replied promptly. Does it justify this show? She replied, “I am giving as much as time I can. It’s justified not justified I don't know.”
When we asked her choreographer Salman Yusuff Khan that it must be difficult for him to manage his time and schedules according to a daily soap actress. The dashing dude scratched his head and said, “I worked with Yana (Gupta) and Isha earlier and their dedication was 24 by 7. I can practice with them for the entire day. Unfortunately Drashti is working for entire 12 hours shift; she is already tired when she comes for practice. I am trying my best to keep her up while practicing. I haven't compromised in my choreography just because she is working in a daily soap. But my schedule is affected. I never started my rehearsals in the night. I am always an early morning person, now I am sleeping in the morning. My other work is gone, so my entire cycle is shifted. I had taken up the commitment so I am giving my best.”
Are we going to see any changes in Madhubala track so that Drashti can give more time for Jhalak? When we asked this to Drashti, Salman immediately grabbed the mic and said, “I wish aisa hoo jaaye (laughs).”
“I love my show. I got Jhalak because of Madhubala I wouldn’t want to leave my show for sure even for a day,” Drashti affirmed.
Drashti had a sparkling chemistry with her Geet co-star Gurmeet Choudhary and her currently her on-screen chemistry with Vivian D’Sena is getting better day by day. When we asked her to rate her chemistry with Salman, she said, “10 on 10.”
When asked Salman to rate her, he said “As a student 9.5.”
Why not 10? “As nobody is perfect in this world, nobody can be,” says Salman.
Salman refused to rate Drashti as a dancer,"She still has a long journey as a dancer. I cannot rate myself as a dancer, so how do I dare rate her. I am still learning dancing so I can never rate anybody in this world.”

A red carpet premiere for TV''s ''Madhubala''
Mumbai, May 22 (IANS) The launch of forthcoming show "Madhubala... Ek Ishq, Ek Junoon" here was nothing less than a glamorous red carpet Bollywood premiere. And why not -- the show promises to take a behind-the-scenes look into the emotional journey of all those associated with the industry.
Held at the Cinemax, Versova, here Monday night, the launch was different from the usual announcments at hotels and banquet halls.
A red carpet was laid for the show's crew and actors, including lead stars Vivian D'Sena and Drashti Dhami. Producer Saurabh Tewari of Nautanki Films says it was always his dream to host a premiere for his show like that of a film premiere.
The show, and its poster, spell most things Bollywood. With lights, cameras and action, the story begins in the old town of Motihari, in the interiors of Bihar. The setting is reminiscent of the sets of Ramesh Sippy's classic "Sholay".
The scene then shifts to a pregnant lady running away to Mumbai only to find herself in the midst of a film set where she gives birth to Madhubala, the show's protagonist, essayed by Drashti.
Born literally in the lap of the film industry, Madhubala is forced to be a part of showbiz, whether she likes it or not.
Prashant Bhatt, programming head (fiction), Colors, says this is the best time to launch a show on the film industry, given the fact that Indian cinema completes 100 years next year.
"It is the story of a simple girl who is given the gift of stardom and she is not happy enjoying it. She is fulfilling dreams which she has not seen and is living a life which she didn't want, said Bhatt.
Sippy, who was present at the event too, is impressed with the look of the show.
"The show looks very dramatic and interesting and promises something very different. The story is about the film industry and of someone within the film industry. Somebody who goes there and how she got there and how her journey was," said Sippy.
"Hundred years of cinema has seen lots of changes, this will be a one beautiful change as well," he added.
The show, which goes on air May 28, also features other actors like Raj Zutshi, Sushmita Mukherjee Bundela, Shagufta Ali and lalit Parimoo.

Small screen's 'Madhubala' has no Bollywood plans
She is set to portray a Bollywood diva on the small screen, but Drashti Dhami, the lead actress of forthcoming show Madhubala... Ek Ishq, Ek Junoon, says she has no immediate plans to enter the film industry and wants to take each day as it comes.
In the new show, to be aired on Colors, Drashti will essay the role of Madhubala, "a simple, mature and calm girl, who doesn't wish for stardom, but it is forced on to her."
But what is stardom for Drashti? "What I wish for and what I have got," the 27-year-old said confidently.
From the small screen to the big one - will the transition happen in her life soon? "Well, I have no plans... I go with the flow. I take life day by day," Drashti told IANS.
As of now, the actress, who is so far popular as Geet of Geet - Hui Sabse Parayi, is looking forward to her new show.
"It's going to be a challenge. For two years I have been playing Geet. I have taken a break and now I am refreshed to get into a new character," she said,What is the difference between Geet and Madhubala, “You cannot compare two characters as they are entirely different. Geet was a bubby girl whereas Madhu is calm and quite.”
Tell us a bit about your look, “I am wearing less make-up as my character demands simple look."
Dispersing all rumours that the show is based on the life of real life Bollywood stunner Madhubala, "The show is really not about Madhubala. One has to realise that it's not a three-hour movie. It's a TV show, and that cannot last on just one character."
"Madhubala is just a tribute to the film fraternity, to people from the industry - actors, junior artists, coordinators, the families who deal with them... it is an attempt to show how they are in real life and the emotions that they go through. It's about what happens behind-the-scenes, not about one person," clarified Drashti.
But personally, Drashti is a fan of late actress Madhubala, who ruled the Hindi film industry in the 1950s and 1960S with her grace and charm.
"I think she was a diva, an epitome of beauty. I don't think I can ever be remotely compared with her. I don't think there's anyone as beautiful as her in the industry. If and when people see the show, they will realise, it's not about her, so there shouldn't be any comparisons," she said.
Speaking about her chemistry with Vivian, she said, “Well we have not shot much together,I am sure audience will like our chemistry.”
"Madhubala", the show produced by Saurabh Tewari's Nautanki Films, features Vivian D'Sena as the male lead, a superstar named RK. Madhubala is a girl who is born and brought up in Mumbai in a filmy background. She will be a simple, sweet girl who later gain great heights of fame and stardom. The show will go on air May 28, 2012.
