Colors' one of the most inspirational show Balika Vadhu is all set to welcome a brand-new milestone which will further the show’s position as the epitome of social awareness on television. An 11-year leap will set the stage for history to repeat itself as Anandi’s young daughter finds herself bound by the chains that plagued Anandi’s own childhood – child marriage.
Now, as the date for the change in fortunes nears and the gut-wrenching history takes Nimboli ’s life by storm, COLORS reveals the face whose innocence and playfulness who will pull at the heartstrings of the nation much like Anandi had all those years back.
11-year-old Baroda resident, Gracy Goswami has been roped in to portray the role of young Nimboli whose childhood and future will be gripped by the perils of child marriage as she will grapple to understand the reason behind her lost childhood. To step into these nervous shoes that has the entire country waiting with bated breath, Gracy is currently in the process of shifting base to Mumbai along with her family who have been tutoring her about child marriage and what it entails.
Anandi, whose infantile daughter was kidnapped from her and forced into the ritual of a Thaali marriage, however, remains unaware of her daughter’s plight. As she turns an activist to stand up for the rights of women, little does Anandi know that her young daughter, Nimboli is bound to an orthodox family where gender bias is the key to survival. Nimboli ’s name, too, bears witness to this discrimination as she is named after the bitter fruit of a neem tree that is never celebrated and always ridiculed.
As a new Balika Vadhu take centrestage with the attitude to take life in her stride, we cannot help but wonder if Anandi and her daughter will ever be reunited?! Will Nimboli want to fight for her rights or will she be subdued to accept the injustice?
