Veteran actor Surekha Sikri has passed away in Mumbai at the age of 75 of a cardiac arrest.
Three-time national award winning actor was ailing for some time and had suffered a brain stroke in 2020 and a paralytic stroke earlier in 2018.
She was born in Uttar Pradesh, and graduated from National School of Drama (NSD) in 1971. She had also won the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1989. In 1978, she made her debut with political drama film Kissa Kursi Ka. Later she did many films like Tamas, Mammo,Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro, Zubeidaa and Badhaai Ho etc.
She also played the role of matriarch Kalyani Devi in popular TV show soap Balika Vadhu.
Sikri was last seen in director Zoya Akhtar's short film in the Netflix anthology Ghost Stories.
