STORY :

‘Shah Rukh Bola Khubsoorat Hai Tu’ is a story about a florist girl, Laali played by talented Preetika Chawla, whose life changes when Shahrukh Khan stops at the signal where she sells flowers and compliments her on her beauty and said ‘khubsoorat hai tu’. She begins to lead her life in a fantasy and start believing that her God Shahrukh will save her from all her hardships.

SRK’s innocent compliment has a domino effect on all the people in laali’s life. The man who loves her feels discarded and stabs her. The bar girl who loves him takes over his life, insisting that he stops selling books and start driving an auto-rickshaw and the local cop(played by Nagesh Bhonsle) and a journalist (nicely played by Afzaal Khan) become embroiled in the dramatic tale shaped by Shahrukh’s wandering comment.

The film is a comment on our fascination with stars, on how deeply Bollywood films infuses our lives and also, how movie’s bump up ordinary people into divinity. 

Shahrukh’s one dialogue has effect that even he cannot even imagine. And like a extraterrestrial being, he is far removed from the grimy lives that he unknowingly alters.

MUSIC REVIEW :

Shahrukh Bola Khoobsurat Hai Tu hasn't been designed as a musical film. Title track is composed and sung by Vasuda Sharma, seems good, picturised on Laali, who is happy after she gets compliment from her favorite star Shahrukh.

Song 'Bhool Jaana' written by Makarand Deshpande sung by Jagjit Singh has a sad feel. It’s about forgetting about the past and not allowing any memories to live in.

'Socha Na Tha' is the longest track, which lasts for close to 7 minutes. Sung by Vasuda Sharma, is a sober song.  'Batiyan' is a semi-classical track which is also crooned by Vasuda.

MOVIE REVIEW : 

It’s a small and experimental movie which investigates into the psyche of the classic Bollywood fan who transmutes the object of his devotion for a movie star into a God. A smart little fable that explains why we Indians make temples for our favorite stars or write a letter to them in blood. SBKHT has a real sweetness and pain to Laali’s devotion to her super star.

The movie revolves around a traffic signal where a bunch of small-timers live and love. Shahrukh has a special appearance in the film. Book-seller John (played by Sanjay) loves Laali (Preetika Chawla), but Laali has eyes only for her DDLJ hero SRK, while the neighborhood hooker tries her best to seduce John. 

Makarand Deshpande is a well known name in theatre and has almost always inclined in an stunning cameo avatar. With SBKHT, he makes an interesting debut as a film director and holds out promise for the future. His directorial debut does have a few rough edges and needs a bit of editing. It conveys a sense of freshness that keeps the moments ticking. Overall it’s a nice movie.
