Lyrics and translation of 'Airaneechya Deva Tula' in English
Recently I heard this beautiful song sung by one of my absolute favourites Lata Mangeshkar from the movie Sadhi Mansa. The music of this song is composed by Anandghan and the lyrics are penned by Jagdeesh Khebudkar
In ऐरणीच्या देवा तुला ठिणगी ठिणगी वाहू दे, आभाळागत माया तुझी आम्हावरी राहू दे!, the word ऐरण refers to the anvil of the blacksmith and ठिणगी refers to the spark generated when a piece of metal placed on the anvil is struck with a hammer.

Sushmita Sen brings rare honour to Bollywood
Popular actress and Miss Universe Sushmita Sen is the only Bollywood actor to be featured in a coffee table book titled ‘The Indian Woman’ curated for the President of India’s gift for visiting international diplomats.
Sushmita features alongside Kiran Majumdar Shaw, Naina Lal Kidwai, Mary Kom, Gita Gopinath, Ela Bhatt, Bhanu Athaiya, Alisah Abdullah and Lata Mangeshkar, among other 20 women who are pioneers in their fields.
Her story is written by Priyanka Jain, who has co-authored a book on Vinod Chopra Productions and is also working on another on Paan Singh Tomar for UTV Disney. ‘The Indian Woman’ is curated by Shobit Arya, edited by the CNN-IBN anchor Richa Anirudh and published by Wisdom Tree.
The story celebrates Sushmita’s journey from a young Miss Universe to a single mother with two kids and a successful career. Talking about celebrating inner beauty, she suggests, “If you go beyond limiting beauty by the length of your hair, size of your butt or parameters of your figure, you will find a beauty that’s ethereal.”
“Nature doesn’t say wrinkles are ugly. Should I give up smiling – a thing that fills me with joy – just because I might get a few lines,” asks the diva, who completes two decades since she was crowned Miss Universe in her teens in 1994.
The book, which is a collector’s edition, “Reflects India’s pride and succeeds in passing on the enduring legacy of our highly creative and dedicated womenfolk to future generations,” remarks Bollywood public relations impresario Dale Bhagwagar.
Narrating her experiences in the book, Sushmita urges women to find beauty through their confidence and surround themselves with real people, who are supportive of who they are, and are not around because of how they look.

Net and mobile media ‘kills’ Amitabh Bachchan!
‘Killing’ ageing superstars before their time comes, seems to be one of the in-things the internet and social media have come to specialize in! After fake rumours about Lata Mangeshkar and Rajesh Khanna’s demise this year, now the internet has gone ahead and ‘killed’ megastar Amitabh Bachchan this week.
One of the blogspot blog.in reported Big B’s demise in a “car accident” on its home page a few hours ago; causing panic among Twitterati and Blackberry Messenger (BBM) users who broadcast and discussed it, till they realized it was a false alarm.
According to the said blog, “(Local Team News 9) Amitabh Bachan died in a single vehicle crash on Route 80 between Morristown and Roswell. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics responding to the vehicle accident and was identified by photo ID found on his body. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been a factor in this accident - June 26, 2012.” (sic)
Also carrying photograph of a car turned over, the article added that “The Highway Safety Investigators have told reporters that Amitabh Bachan lost control while driving a friend's vehicle on Interstate 80 and rolled the vehicle several times killing him instantly.” (sic)
“Memorial services for Amitabh Bachan have not yet been announced. The service is expected to be a closed casket funeral due to the severe head trauma,” (sic) it concluded after a further description of the so-called ‘accident’.
Commenting on such misleading reports, Bollywood PR guru Dale Bhagwagar smirked, “The bol bachchan (talking big) attitude of the internet and social media often borders on irony when it keeps ‘killing’ superstars.”
“Social media is a very influential and powerful platform, and everyone should be wary of what they broadcast without verifying. When the rumour broke out, Mr Bachchan was happily tweeting almost every 15 minutes. It just takes a little bit of patience and research to check facts, but sadly, not many do that before they jump to conclusions and discussions on the net,” he analyzed.

Mehdi Hassan was outstanding: Lata Mangeshkar
Mumbai, June 13 (IANS) India's nightingale Lata Mangeshkar, who made a rare collaboration with Mehdi Hassan for a song in an album, remembered the Pakistani ghazal maestro as an "outstanding singer" and said the news of his death Wednesday has left her upset.
"It is a very sad news. I am really upset ever since I heard this news. Not only me, the entire world loved his songs. There is no doubt about it that he was an outstanding singer," Mangeshkar told IANS.
In 2010, "Tera Milana", a duet by the two legends was launched as part of an album named "Sarhadein". While Hassan recorded it in Pakistan in 2009, Mangeshkar later heard the track and recorded her part in India in 2010. It was later mixed together for a duet.
Hassan, known for ghazals like "Ranjish hi sahi", "Patta patta, boota boota", passed away at a Karachi hospital after a prolonged illness. He was 84.
Lata, 82, says they shared mutual respect.
"I have shared a very good relationship with him. I really respect him a lot and even he used to respect me a lot. I have met him just two to three times, he was a wonderful human being."
"Gaana ek aisi cheez hai jo sabko nazdeek rakhta hai...Gaanewale hamesha nazdeek ke hi hote hai (Music keeps everyone close, and singers are always close to one another)," added Mangeshkar.
She also took to Twitter to share her emotions and wrote that Hassan "brought an important change in ghazal segment" and that it would be difficult to "find an artist" like him.
"Wo bohot bade shastriya sangeet ke gayak bhi the, aur unke gaane me Rajasthan ke sangeet ki khushboo bhi thi," she wrote and added that he composed songs for her.
"Unhone mere liye kuchh gaane banaaye the, unme se hi ek ghazal jo unhone mujhe gaake bheji thi, uska maine duet karke record kiya tha. Unke saath mera ye ek hi gaana hai (He had composed some songs for me. Of these, one ghazal which he sang and sent to me, I recorded as a duet. That was my only song with him)," she wrote.
"Main ishwar se prarthana karti hun ki Mehdi sahab ki aatma ko woh shaanti pradan karein (May his soul rest in peace)," she added.
