Alia is like my child: Karan Johar
Youth icon Alia Bhatt has a newfound role as the content curator for the newly announced English entertainment channel, COLORS Infinity along with director-producer Karan Johar.
It is a well-known fact that when in need for advice on any aspect of life whether personal or professional, Alia relies on her mentor cum father figure Karan to give her the most reliable counsel. Being co-curators for the channel, the two did not always unanimously agree on certain shows.

Sonali Raut unhappy about preceding Chitrangada Singh
The versatile hottie Sonali Raut (of The Xpose fame) got quite a surprise when she found out that she beat another beauty Chitrangada Singh in the recent Celebex poll, charting the up and coming celebrities of 2014.
The newbie debuted the polls at Number 35, just after hot and happening names like Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai, Sonakshi Sinha, Anushka Sharma, Vidya Balan, Sonam Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra.
But what bothered Sonali is that she beat Chitrangada, who came at Number 44. “I really like Chitrandaga and I also know that a lot of men swoon over her. I wish I was placed after her in the poll,” she remarked.
Now now! That’s a first for a gal in any cat race. But Sonali’s goodwill doesn’t there! She has a word of praise for some other more contemporary names like Shraddha Kapoor, Kajal Aggarwal, Nargis Fakhri, Ileana Dcruz, Jacqueline Fernandez, Tamanna Bhatia, Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon who preceded her in the poll.
“They are all making an impacting presence with some spectacular movies. I felt privileged to be placed amongst them too,” quipped Sonali. Guess many would want to learn humbleness from this gorgeous new-age girl.

Alia Bhatt had a peek-a-boo moment with her inner wear flashing out of her kurta and Patiala salwar..
Pretty gal Alia Bhatt suffered an oouch-oops moment of fashion faux pas, when dashing Varun Dhawan lifted her in his arms.
Recently at Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniyaa's trailer launch, lensmen requested the actors to pose for a final photo-ops. So, Varun lifted the barbie doll Alia vertically high up in the air much to the actress’s discomfort.
Varun enthusiastic spirit turned out to be an embarrassment for Alia. She had a peek-a-boo moment with her inner wear flashing out of her kurta and Patiala salwar.
Well, wonder why these actresses wear such transparent fabric's in public events?

Bhaag Johnny girl Mandana Karimi wants to click herself underwater!
Be it Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Shraddha Kapoor or Parineeti Chopra, the new kids on the block are indeed proving themselves to be a fun-loving and funky yet intelligent lot.
Joining the bandwagon this week is Mandana Karimi, the dazzling new face in Vikram Bhatt’s forthcoming film Bhaag Johnny.
Mandana, who will feature as a lead alongside Kunal Khemu and Zoa Morani in the movie, is the new cover girl for Stuff magazine’s latest issue, where she has revealed some interesting things.
It turns out that one of the most expensive gadgets the girl owns is a water-proof camera. “I’m yet to test it underwater! Maybe, after I buy myself an itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka dot bikini,” she grins. Ooh la la! We’ll sure wait for that one!
Ask her about the simplest gadget she loves and she says, “I’d give that position to my trendy-looking mini hair dryer. I’m a girl who likes to travel light and this one fits neatly into my little traveling bag.”
More on the techno side, Mandana reveals she has a fascination for a big futuristic television set for her living room. “It should be a Full HD web-connected TV, preferably with stereoscopic 3D,” she quips, saying she’s already saving up for something like that. Atta girl!

`Student of the Year` songs peppy, likeable
New Delhi: ‘Student of the Year’ is Karan Johar`s first directorial venture without his lucky charm Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. With three newcomers - Varun Dhawan, director David Dhawan`s son; model Siddharth Malhotra; and Alia Bhatt, daughter of Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan - he is set out to recreate the magic of his debut film ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’.
With a youthful setting, the film`s soundtrack by duo Vishal-Shekhar, who has doled out seven tracks, gels well with the theme.
The album kicks off with "Ratta maar", a perfect song giving the feel of the theme. It deals with anxieties and stress faced by students during exams. The Hinglish (Hindi-English) lyrics are good to the ears and the composition is simple yet redolent. Crooned by Vishal and Shefali Alvares, the song may become an anthem in schools and colleges during exam time.
Next up is "Radha", which begins on a classical note with the melodious voice of Shreya Ghoshal, but surprises listeners when suddenly they are greeted with peppy beats raising the tempo. The song fuses both Indian and Western sounds quite well and Vishal gets you grooving with his vocals. Another surprise is entry of Udit Narayan`s voice towards the end of the song.
It is followed by "Ishq wala love", a slow romantic number sung by Shekhar Ravijani, Salim Merchant and Neeti Mohan. The composition is quite simple but goes on to create maximum effect. The tabla beats along with the mellow sound of the guitar keep the listener hooked to the track. It defines romantic flavour of Karan`s films and is definitely going to be a chartbuster.
Blast from the past is "Disco deewane", which was sung by late Pakistani singer Nazia Hassan. It is used in the film in a modern avatar and titled "The disco song". Portions originally sung by Nazia Hassan have been blended really well with a fresh composition sung by Benny Dayal and Sunidhi Chauhan, who have done a fabulous job by retaining the flavour and yet infusing new energy into the track. It is a winner all the way.
Next on the playlist is "Kukkad", a funny number that mixes bhangra with electronic beats. The track is edgy and grappling and sets the mood right to shake a leg with Shahid Mallya behind the mike. Nisha Mascarenhas and Marianne D`Cruz join Shahid in the song and they have done a decent job, but are not unable to justify the use of English lyrics.
"Vele" has Vishal-Shekhar coming together as singers and they do impress the listener with their grainy voices. Musically speaking, the track combines hip-hop, rap, bhangra, and electronic sounds with elements of dub step creating an addictive mix for music lovers.
Last but not the least is "Mashup of the year" by DJ Kamath - he mixes all the tracks in the album in one single song. This one breaks the monotony in the remix genre and packs a punch. It will make it to the dance floor pretty soon.
Well there isn`t too much to complain about the sound track of ‘Student of the Year’. It`s a good mix with very minor flaws that can surely be ignored to enjoy the music that perfectly describes the mood of the movie.
