Shortly after completing the shoot of “Tumhari Sulu”, Neha Dhupia, who plays Maria, Sulu’s radio boss, invited her co-star and new friend, Vidya Balan on her much – discussed celebrity show, “No Filter Neha”.

When asked if a “shaadi” had any “side effects”, Vidya said, “I don’t think I’ve experienced any. My name did not change. I didn’t let it. My address changed, for the better. Sonali Raut unhappy about preceding Chitrangada Singh

The versatile hottie Sonali Raut (of The Xpose fame) got quite a surprise when she found out that she beat another beauty Chitrangada Singh in the recent Celebex poll, charting the up and coming celebrities of 2014.

The newbie debuted the polls at Number 35, just after hot and happening names like Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai, Sonakshi Sinha, Anushka Sharma, Vidya Balan, Sonam Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra.

But what bothered Sonali is that she beat Chitrangada, who came at Number 44. “I really like Chitrandaga and I also know that a lot of men swoon over her. I wish I was placed after her in the poll,” she remarked.

Now now! That’s a first for a gal in any cat race. But Sonali’s goodwill doesn’t there! She has a word of praise for some other more contemporary names like Shraddha Kapoor, Kajal Aggarwal, Nargis Fakhri, Ileana Dcruz, Jacqueline Fernandez, Tamanna Bhatia, Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon who preceded her in the poll.

They are all making an impacting presence with some spectacular movies. I felt privileged to be placed amongst them too,” quipped Sonali. Guess many would want to learn humbleness from this gorgeous new-age girl.

Avika Gor doesn’t mind playing mature roles

New Delhi, May 20 (IANS) Avika Gor is barely 15 years old but she has played an 18-year-old married woman Roli in “Sasural Simar Ka”. And the actress says she doesn’t have a problem playing mature roles.

Avika’s claim to fame was playing child bride Anandi in “Balika Vadhu”, but she quit the show after it took a five-year leap in 2010 and Pratyusha Banerjee was brought in as grown up Anandi.

But the very next year Avika featured in “Sasural Simar Ka” as Roli and the actress wishes she was offered “challenging roles” so that she can “prove herself”.

“The things that you like are not difficult for you. I love acting and I don’t mind playing mature roles. I want to follow the footsteps of actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Vidya Balan.”

Avika was 10 years old when she worked in “Balika Vadhu”, so playing an eight-year-old in it was not tough for her.

“I was happy to get the role of Anandi. I was 10 years old then and I had to play the role of an eight-year-old. It was easy for me because I have been through that age,” she said.

“When I got the role of Roli, it was a challenge as I had to play an 18-year-old mature girl. In ‘Balika Vadhu’, I had to speak in Rajasthani language, but in ‘Sasural Simar Ka’ Roli was a typical Delhi girl, so I had to speak Hindi,” she said.

“It wasn’t hard for me, but the way a 15-year-old talks and the way an 18-year-old talks is very different. So I had to work on that. I used to sit with my directors and writers to learn that.”

In “Sasural Simar Ka”, Roli gets killed, but Avika returns to the show as Jhumki, a banjaran girl, and it posed a new challenge for the actress.

“I am dancing on Hema Malini’s song ‘Jab tak hai jaan’, so I had to watch that song,” she said.

Revealing movie plans, she said she has “signed a Telugu film” in which she will be seen as a teenage “college-going-girl”.

Positive reactions from family members are making Aditya happy. "I have relaxed a little bit. I am happy and I was just waiting to see what they reacted like. Mom and dad are also quite happy with the film," Aditya said.

No one should dare to remake 'Mother India': Vidya Balan

Mumbai, April 8 - Remaking Mehboob Khan's Oscar-nominated "Mother India" is an unachievable feat, says Vidya Balan and if someone dared attempt this, she wouldn't be a part of this.

As a tribute to 100 years of Indian cinema, Vidya has donned Nargis' look from the 1957 cult film "Mother India" and Meena Kumari's from the 1962-classic "Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam" for Cineblitz's special edition.

But the actress, who entered filmdom with the "Parineeta" remake, has no intention of working in a "Mother India" remake.

"I don't think anybody would even dare to remake 'Mother India' and if someone does then I will salute him, but I will not do it. It is unachievable, really," Vidya 35, told reporters at the unveiling of the cover page of the magazine.

"Mother India" is known for Nargis Dutt's power-packed performance as a righteous mother, who shoots down her son, played by Sunil Dutt, whom she married after the movie, for being on the wrong side of the law.

One of the most expensive project of its time, the film is said to be a remake of Khan's 1940 movie "Aurat" and it was India's first submission for the Oscras for the Best Foreign Language Film in 1958.

Talking about dressing up as Nargis in the same look, Vidya said: "It's an honour for me to have recreated those two images. One is the image of Nargis from 'Mother India' and when you think of those iconic images from the Indian cinema over time, it definitely features in the top 3."

"The other image we recreated was 'Sahib, Bibi Aur Ghulam' and I remember seeing that picture when I was in school and finding it extremely intoxicating," added Vidya talking about Meena Kumari's drunk look from the film.

Vidya is currently shooting for "Shaadi Ke Side Effects" with Farhan Akhtar while the first look of her upcoming film "Ghanchakkar" with Emraan Hashmi has already released.

Dadasaheb Phalke awardee Chaitanya Padukone dedicates honour to RD Burman

Ace film journalist Chaitanya Padukone who was felicitated with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Award, along with legendary awardees like Amitabh Bachchan and Dilip Kumar, has dedicated his award to music maestro RD Burman.

Prominent celeb guests at the event included Kajol, Raveena Tandon and Subhash Ghai. Filmmakers Ekta Kapoor and Rohit Shetty congratulated Chaitanya and agreed, he owed his honour to his ‘mentor-guru’ and music legend R.D. Burman, popularly known as Panchamda.

Way back in mid-eighties, when my initial exclusive interviews with the reclusive RDB appeared in a leading city newspaper, Panchamda seemed impressed. On an impulse, he ‘blessed’ me, whilst predicting that someday in future I would achieve glory,” reminisces the journalist.

Since I also had this passion for experimental rhythm, we shared a warm personal rapport.  Somewhere up there, I can visualize RDB reacting to my Phalke Award and humming one of his popular refrains ‘Yeh toh hona hi tha’,” smiles Chaitanya, who has been a prolific award-winner, also being listed in the Limca Book of National Records.

Earlier, the seasoned journalist who has a large number of  ‘breaking-news’ Bollywood stories to his credit, was honoured by superstar Amitabh Bachchan, who conferred on him the KA Abbas Memorial Award and Gold Medal.

Chaitanya’s other credits include carrying out first-exclusive interviews with actors like Vidya Balan, Ameesha Patel, Chunky Panday, Sangeeta Bijlani, Ayesha Jhulka, Manoj Bajpai, Mahima Chaudhary, Riteish Deshmukh, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Deepika Padukone, when they were absolute newcomers in the industry.

Is Vidya Bagchi a schizophrenic?

These days ohh lala babe Vidya Balan is seen flaunting her baby bump for promoting her upcoming flick ‘Kahaani’, which is directed by Sujoy Ghosh.

Kahaani is the story of an expecting woman who comes to Kolkata during the Durga Puja festival in search of her husband lost husband Arnab Bagchi.  She has is a sketch of her husband.

She gets in touch with all the people her husband had mentioned but none of them seem to have ever met him..really strange. Even the police are incapable to locate Arnab.

‘Kahaani’ team is being very secretive about the actor playing mysterious Arnab Bagchi.  I am pretty sure one thing that’s bugging you is ‘Who is the playing Arnab Bagchi?’

There is guesswork that either a Bengali film actor or a Bollywood actor is playing Arnab Bagchi. Sujoy neither confirmed nor denied the rumours.

Recently in an award function I asked Vidya, “Whether there is any Arnab Bagchi at all? Why you are leading us on a wild goose chase?

She laughed and said, “Wait and watch!!

Is Vidya Bagchi a schizophrenic, who is searching for an imaginary husband? Any idea guys?
