Cheerful bundle of adorability Amrita Mukherjee!!
She captivated million hearts with her
innocent, adorable screen presence and is fondly known as Pihu from Balaji
Telefilms 'Bade Achhe Lagte Hain'. Yes we are talking about Amrita Mukherjee,
the sweet little girl with a magnificent smile. In a candid chat with us, she
gets talking about her journey, Bade Achche Lagte Hain and future plans...
Amrita came from a non filmy background, her mom is associated
professor in engineering college and her dad is working as a director in a
consultancy firm. Her parents never thought that Amrita will join glamour
world. Once she went to a mall with her
parents, where a casting director spotted her.
He asked Amrita's parents to get her portfolio done. At that time her
parents don't even have any idea what is portfolio.
Later they made portfolio of Amrita and forwarded it to a
few production houses. After that they
start receiving calls for various shows. But Amrita's mom Mrinmoyee Mukherjee
never took it seriously. "We had a
holiday, so me and my mom went to 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna' temple. After that
we went for audition for BALH. They gave us 6-7 lines. With the help of my mom
I by hearted those lines and reproduced it in front of camera," Amrita
told us. This was the first time she faced camera. After that the casting
director said, "She is perfect for
the role we are looking for a girl exactly like her." After a week
Mrinmoyee received call from Balaji Telefilms, and within a couple of days she
began shooting for the show in Dubai.
"Mujhe shoot
karne mein bahut mazaa aata hai. I just miss shooting with BALH team. The
entire cast and crew were very supportive; they take lot of care about me. They
didn't make me shoot constantly," she quips. When we asked her about
one thing she like and dislike about shooting, she immediately replied, "I love everything about shooting. But the
thing which I like most is shooting the scenes with Kush. I really miss him. He
is my best friend." Talking
about the thing she disliked, she innocently quipped, "Once I was asked to shoot till 2 am. Mujhe
bahut bura laga, that was the only thing I abhorred till date."
Apart from BALH Amrita love to watch Taarak Mehta Ka
Ooltah Chashmah, Crime Patrol and cartoon's like Chota Bheem & Mickey
Mouse. "Be it acting, dancing, drawing or eating, whatever Amrita does she does
with her heart. She puts 100% effort in everything she does," shares
her mom.
When we asked her about her hobbies she said, "I enjoy reading fairytale books, poems and
drawing. I also like dancing. Radha from
'Student Of The Year' & 'Choti Choti Gaiyaan Chote Chote Gwaal' are my favourite
dance numbers."
Amrita is die heart fan of Salman Khan and is very keen
to share screen space with Chulbul Pandey.
She has a naive reason why she likes Salman. "Woh bahut famous hai na that's why I like him," said chubby cheeked
girl.
What she wish to be when she grown up? "I don't know mujhe bahut saari padaai karna
hai," she affirmed. However her mom Mrinmoyee said, "We cannot decide anything about life. Right
now she is very small, so we want her to concentrate on her studies. But that
doesn't mean she will not act again. We want to keep acting as extracurricular
activity. We are looking for short term
opportunities in acting, in which she can groom herself as an actor without
effecting her childhood."
While wrapping up the interview when we asked her if she
want to give any message to our readers? She whispered cutely, "Khaao Piyo Mast Raho.”

Siddharth (Mahesh Shetty) gets Ayesha pregnant, and Ram Kapoor will be forced to marry her. Chahat is apparently unhappy with the upcoming track as her character shall turn negative and she has to play mother to five year old kid.

It’s time for old actors to take control again: Mona Singh
She rose to fame as the desi Ugly Betty act in Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi, after which Mona Singh deliberately kept away from fiction shows. As she gears up to return to TV soaps with Ekta Kapoor’s Kya Hua Tera Vaada, she says this is the right time for old actors to come back and take control of the small screen.
“I have never planned anything in life; so this new show just happened. Yes, it was a deliberate decision not to take up a show immediately after Jassi… I was flooded with lots of offers, but I didn’t take up anything because I felt if I did anything immediately after that, I would be compared to that show,” Mona said.
Post-Jassi…, Mona switched to reality shows. “To break out of Jassi’s image, I had to get into reality TV. Now that people have known me as an anchor, as a participant and as an actor, now is the right time to come back to TV. It’s time for old actors to come back and take control,” added the actor. Lately, actors like Mohnish Behl, Sakshi Tanwar, Ram Kapoor and Ronit Roy are getting to play key roles on the small screen, a long time after they established themselves with hit serials. Mona, who went on to win the first season of dance reality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, also took to hosting reality shows like Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega and Star Ya Rockstar during her break from fiction content. She even made her way to the big screen with a small role in Rajkumar Hirani’s blockbuster 3 Idiots.
Now she is returning to fiction content on the tube after six years and feels with latest shows like Bade Achhe Lagte Hain and Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, Indian telly is going back to basics. “TV has gone back to basics, relating to middle class family with real characters, less make-up and simple shots. I feel as an actor it is a delight to work in such shows,” said the 31-year-old.
“When I was doing Jassi…, there was also Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, which was the top show. Both the shows were at par with each other. But Kyunki… was a very blingy show and Jassi.. was very simple, yet it did very well. After that I could not relate to TV because most of the shows were either village-based or were very rich in look. I couldn’t relate with women working in the kitchen wearing kanjeevaram saris, and sindoor falling out of the head,” she added.
In her upcoming show, which will go on air on Sony TV January 30, she will be seen as a sobre housewife. “The show talks about what happens to a couple after 10 years of marriage. It’s a mature love story and talks about the little joys in life as love between the couple goes out of the window because priorities change. You think only of your kids first, then yourself, then husband. I am sure most of the women, who have been married for the past 10-15 years will easily relate to this show,” she said.
So the obvious next question – when is Mona taking the plunge into marriage? “I do believe in the institution of marriage. I do see myself getting married, having children and being happily settled in life, but like I said I don’t plan, so I don’t know when it will happen but it will happen soon,” she said.
