Motherhood changed my connect with children: Mandira Bedi

New Delhi, April 24 (IANS) Not so long ago, a cranky child on a flight would’ve left anchor-actress Mandira Bedi upset and disturbed but she says that has all changed since she became a mother herself.

In fact, her experiences as mother of a toddler has helped her in her first association with a children’s reality show – “Indian Idol Junior”. She co-hosts the upcoming edition of the music reality show “Indian Idol”, which will feature kids aged 5 to 15 this time.

The 41-year-old has hosted a series of reality shows and live events in the past. How does she plan to channelise it for the new show?

“The greatest experience for me for this one (‘Indian Idol Junior’) is that I am now a mother,” Mandira, who gave birth to a son in 2011, told IANS.

“It’s not the anchoring experience that I talk about, but now that I am a mother, I connect with children a little differently. A couple of years ago, if I was in a flight, and there would be a yelling baby, I would get disturbed and upset by it. Now if I am in such a situation, I’d go to the mother and ask, ‘Do you want to eat your meal? Do you want me to hold the baby, so you can go to the bathroom’?”

Always on the move, she knows the perils of travelling with a toddler.

“I travel so much with my baby and I know it’s hard. My whole ‘nazariya’ (outlook) has changed towards babies and children. Not that I ever disliked them, but your relationship with children changes forever once you become a mom,” added the popular actess, who is married to filmmaker Raj Kaushal.

Mandira, who will co-host the reality show along with Karan Wahi, says she also hopes to learn a thing or two about parenting from the show.

“You can learn from any and every mother around. There are a few parents who are very indulgent and there are some who are living their own dreams through their children, and that’s not the right route."

“On ‘Indian Idol Junior’, we are promoting ‘Singing masti hai, zabardasti nahin’ (Singing is fun, and not a compulsion). There shouldn’t be anything that children are pushed for, and we have encountered some pushy parents. So, yes, there’s something to learn from there – let the child be what he or she wants to be. And then, there are some amazing kids we meet – just in the clothes they wear, the way they speak, just for the spirit they have; it just shows that they have been brought up so beautifully by their parents. So there’s a learning there as well,” she said.

The show, to be judged by Shreya Ghoshal, Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravijani, will go on air on Sony Entertainment soon. The auditions are on right now.

I am lonely and looking for a companion : Mallika Sherawat

Sex Bomb Mallika Sherawat is looking for a companion, and to search for her prince charming she is coming to small screen.  The actress will be featuring in Life OK’s upcoming reality dating game show on television.

Life OK has acquired the format of the popular US reality dating game show The Bachelor and has specially made the Zodiak-owned SOL Productions to produce the Indian version – of its adaptation The Bachelorette. The show is titled “The Bachelorette India- Mere Khayalon Ki Mallika”. The show is likely to go on air somewhere in August. It will revolve around the single bachelorette Mallika and a pool of 30 romantic interests trying to woo her.

SOL had earlier produced ‘Rakhi Ka Swayamvar’ which ran very successfully on the now shut down Imagine TV, thanks to Rakhi Sawant's bold antics. Its opening episode notched up 4.1 TVRs according to TAM data for 2009 and its grand finale Rakhi Ka Swayamvar Faisle Ki Raat, which was aired live on 2 August 2009 from 9-11.30 pm, fetched a whopping TVR of 8.4 for Imagine.

"We decided to go and acquire the licence for the original format from Warner. Any show like this that has happened in India earlier was actually inspired by The Bachelorette," said Ajit Thakur (Business head of Life OK).

He said, the dating show will run for 20 episodes over 10 weeks. "The promos have been shot, currently we are soliciting entries, and these will be followed by auditions. This show gives us a unique opportunity to partner Mallika in her quest to find true love," said Mr. Thakur.

Miss. Sherawat wore a red gathered Alexander Wang dress with Louboutin heels in the press conference which held yeaterday. When asked about “perfect bachelor" in Bollywood, she told us, "I think in Bollywood, Karan Johar is a perfect bachelor ...He is perfect for me. He is charming, successful and he has integrity.”

Mallika has not seen earlier seasons of Swayamwar featuring Rakhi Sawant in first season, Rahul Mahajan and Ratan Rajput in second and third seasons respectively. Like OK claimed that there show is quite different from Swayamwar seasons.

The actress is known for her bold on-screen attitude, says people will get to see another side of her through this effort. "I have been shown as bold and glamorous girl. Through this show, people will get to see my emotional and sensitive side. I think the reach of TV today is limitless, while my reach is limited," she said.

Mallika also said she was looking for a companion, just like any other girl does. "I am lonely and looking for a companion. I am looking for love. I am like any other girl, who, beyond name, fame, money, wants a companion in life," the 36-year-old added.

Reacting to the brutal rape of the five-year-old girl in New Delhi, Mallika said, "It is very shameful act, a devastating one. I think today it is 'Ravan Rajya'."

On actor Sanjay Dutt, with whom she shared screen space in Double Dhamaal, Mallika said, "I had a good time working with him. He is a very good human being, helpful and caring. I hope he finds strength during this tough time."

I will never ever write an autobiography : Additi Gupta

Cute and bubbly Additi Gupta had become a household name by essaying the lead character of Heer in the popular soap 'Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil'. The actress is currently as Nandini in Zee TV’s ‘Badalte Rishton Ki Dastaan’.

When we asked her would she ever write autobiography she laughed and said, “NO WAYS!! I will never ever write autobiography or allow anybody to write my biography.”

According to Additi her life has no interesting twist and turns which would make an autobiography appealing. “There is no masala in my life; it’s quite simple. Readers will get bored after reading my autobiography. I personally don't feel there is anything worth writing about my life,” said Additi.

We agree Additi  till now your life is simple, sober and not interesting enough to pen down in a biography or autobiography. But you never know the future might add some spice in your life. Well you have to agree that you are truly an inspiration to many..

I had broken my fixed deposits only to shop: Sana Khan

Sana Khan became the talk of the town after participating in Colors’ controversial reality show Bigg Boss 6. Time surely seems to be in her favour; we hear that she has landed herself into a role for a lifetime with Salman Khan’s new film ‘Mental’. The actress is apparently very thrilled and elated about the project. Though she refused to talk about her role we learned that she is playing a negative character in Robinhood Pandey's film. She might be playing Mukul Dev's wife, who is playing negative lead. In a candid chat with Scrutiny, Sana gets talking about Bigg Boss, upcoming movie, her fashion fundas and future plans...

Bubbly Sana was earlier featured in a few ads and is a known face in South India. When asked what made her take up Bigg Boss, she blinked her eyes and said “I have been watching Bigg Boss from last 5 years and getting associated with India’s biggest reality show as an upcoming talent I felt was an opportunity to grab. Luckily Endemol was searching for my number and they got my contact from one of my south producer and I landed in that show.”

Bigg Boss was almost like a grooming session for her. She was the youngest contestant on the show and she said she learned a lot during her stay in the house with a mature troop of people. “The show helped me to discover another side of my own self. Now I can handle situations better and I am no more intolerant,” giggled Sana.

She did a pilot episode for Doordarshan’s show, which was produced by Chandrakanta fame Sunil Agnihotri. “OMG you remember that?” she was quite surprised when we asked about that show. “It was the first time I faced the camera and professional makeup. It was super fun as I played a princess in the pilot episode. I just love costume drama's,” she laughed and said.

Sana is undoubtedly a very daring individual. Few are the people who have the guts to start their career with a bomb-shell role.

Sana has indeed proved her boldness by doing Climax and playing the much talked role Silk though the sweeter version. “I feel overwhelmed for the opportunity I got as a newcomer in the industry. I was a part of many commercial films in the South but with Climax, I hope to get intense and intelligent roles like Silk."

Talking about the journey, chirpy actress said, “I think my journey is just perfect. Yes I have had and will have ups and downs in my journey, but I think it makes life more interesting and keeps you going on. As we say destination is not as interesting as the journey we travel. I have been heated, beaten and compressed and this has only made me stronger and wiser.”

Vivacious Miss. Khan Loves wearing different dresses and adores Kareena Kapoor’s dressing sense. Is she into designer wear? She winked her eye and said, “At times I wear designer wears, but I pick loads of stuff when I travel. They are stylish and you also save good amount of money.”

She loves Dolce and Gabbana’s collection for girls because of their vibrant colours. “I am a diehard fan of their clothes. I feel their clothes talk a lot,” she said. According to lively Sana, a sexy tight fitted black dress is one outfit that every woman should have in her wardrobe.

Like most of the girls she is a shopaholic and confessed that she has broken her fixed deposits only to shop. She is planning to visit Italy as she thinks it’s one of the best shopping destinations.

When we asked her what should one keep in mind when getting dressed for a party? She pointed her finger at her high heel leather sandals and said, "Shoes!!..People are very intelligent now but still they miss something very important. All do good make up and dress up in their own comfy style but end up wearing uncomfortable shoes. I guess shoes are very important as if not selected rightly; all your party energy is spoiled."

Although Sana is an inspiration to many girls when it comes to fashion trends, but sometimes she too commits an occasional fashion faux pas. “I am still learning fashion. There are times when you just don't get your make up or hair right at times and you land up in a mess overall. Let’s not talk about this,” she hides her face while answering.

While wrapping up the interview, we asked her about future plans. She smiled and said, "You will see me next in Films and Filmfare."

" I just want to do more and more films with variety of roles. I want to do roles from every genre be it glamorous, sober, lovey-dovey, negative, mature and so on. I just want that years later, whenever I look back I should have a positive and rising graph," says Sana.

Mom worried I'll get serial kisser tag: Ruslaan Mumtaz

New Delhi, April 18 (IANS) He has kissed three different heroines in three films. No wonder actor Ruslaan Mumtaz's actress mother Anjana was worried that after Emraan Hashmi her son will get the "serial kisser" tag in Bollywood.

"My mother is worried, and she keeps telling me that 'no girl will marry you'. She feels I will create an image, a perception and will be called the next serial kisser. In three films, I have kissed three heroines already," Ruslaan told IANS.

In his debut film "MP3 - Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar" (2007), he locked lips with Hazel Crowney, while in "Teree Sang" (2009), he was seen getting intimate with Sheena Shahabadi. If that wasn't enough already, in his third film "I Don't Luv U", he once again gets up close and personal with his co-star.

Releasing May 17, the film will see him romancing debutant Chetna Pande. The story revolves around an MMS scandal, and how if affects the relationship of two youngsters.

Ruslaan says he pacifies his mother with the fact that "you can't choose your films based on whether or not it has a kissing scene".

"If I like a story, and it requires a kiss, it's okay. But I won't work with people who want to add a kiss to the story just like that," he said.

Moreover, the 29-year-old believes the Indian audience doesn't need theatres and films to watch explicit scenes.

"They have so many avenues where they can watch it all for free. There's internet, the phone...why would the audience pay Rs.300 for a ticket to watch intimacy in a film," said the actor.

Nevertheless, he is quite comfortable kissing in front of the camera.

"There's nothing personal about kissing for a film. There's no reaction to it. But when we were shooting for 'I Don't Luv U', Chetna was nervous. I told her, 'Just don't worry, and do it in one take'. That's the best way to do it. It gets uncomfortable when you have to do retakes and do it over and over again," said Ruslaan.

"I Don't Luv U", directed by Amit Kasaria and presented by Amrapali Media Vision, is produced by Anil Kumar Sharma in association with Pallavi Mishra. The movie is said to be inspired by the 2004 MMS scandal involving two school going students.

Back in 2011, Ruslaan was himself embroiled in an MMS scandal, featuring the daughter of a veteran actress. He said he was "never involved" in it.

"My only connection with it was that a close friend of mine featured in it, and it is only a coincidence that I am featuring in a film around an MMS scandal," he said.
