Kitni Mohabbat Hai fame Kritika Kamra is all set to shine on silver screen. The pretty actress has been roped to play a leading lady in Delhi Belly writer Akshat Verma's directorial debut.

Neil Bhoopalam, who was last seen in TV series 24 will be seen opposite Kritika. For those uninitiated, Neil will be seen in Ungli and Anushka Sharma starrer NH 10.

The film is a peculiar comedy set in Mumbai and will go on floors in early next year.

Sonali Raut unhappy about preceding Chitrangada Singh

The versatile hottie Sonali Raut (of The Xpose fame) got quite a surprise when she found out that she beat another beauty Chitrangada Singh in the recent Celebex poll, charting the up and coming celebrities of 2014.

The newbie debuted the polls at Number 35, just after hot and happening names like Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai, Sonakshi Sinha, Anushka Sharma, Vidya Balan, Sonam Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra.

But what bothered Sonali is that she beat Chitrangada, who came at Number 44. “I really like Chitrandaga and I also know that a lot of men swoon over her. I wish I was placed after her in the poll,” she remarked.

Now now! That’s a first for a gal in any cat race. But Sonali’s goodwill doesn’t there! She has a word of praise for some other more contemporary names like Shraddha Kapoor, Kajal Aggarwal, Nargis Fakhri, Ileana Dcruz, Jacqueline Fernandez, Tamanna Bhatia, Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon who preceded her in the poll.

“They are all making an impacting presence with some spectacular movies. I felt privileged to be placed amongst them too,” quipped Sonali. Guess many would want to learn humbleness from this gorgeous new-age girl.

Karan Johar to play father in Vikas Bahl's upcoming film?

After making fleeting appearances in films like 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge', 'Fashion' and 'Luck By Chance', Karan Johar is making his full-fledged acting debut with Anurag Kashyap's 'Bombay Velvet'. Film also stars Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma and Karan is playing a editor of a newspaper and his character has grey shades.

Now it seems, Johar who is better known as the King of candy floss emotions, is taking acting career seriously. We heard he might be seen in Vikas Bahl's upcoming film 'Shaandar' starring Alia Bhatt & Shahid Kapoor.

According to our sources, "Shahid is playing a wedding planner in the film. Karan will be seen playing a father, whose son is getting married and Shahid will organize the wedding."

Govind is expected to play Karan's in-law in the film.

Despite of our repeated attempts KJo remained unavailable for comment.

Rakul Preet's discipline stems from her army connection!

Actress Rakul Preet who is set to make her foray into Bollywood with Yaariyaan; the directorial debut of T-Series’ head honcho Bhushan Kumar’s wife Divya Kumar, has a habit of reaching her sets half an hour before time!

When asked about it, she credits her tendency to her army connection. Rakul’s dad is a colonel in the army and she has done her final years of schooling from Army Public School in Delhi. A mathematics graduate, she has studied financial management.

“They say discipline is the soul of an army. I have grown up inculcating the values of timeliness, obedience, restraint and commitment. I’m realizing that qualities like these go a long way in shaping life,” she says with dreams in her eyes.

Rakul’s family background puts the gal in a unique league of Bollywood beauties like Preity Zinta, Priyanka Chopra, Sushmita Sen, Anushka Sharma, Chitrangada Singh and Lara Dutta; all of whom hail from military backgrounds; with parents posted in various rungs of the military hierarchy.

Be it Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Shraddha Kapoor or Parineeti Chopra, the new kids on the block are indeed proving themselves to be a fun-loving and funky yet intelligent lot.

Joining the bandwagon this week is Mandana Karimi, the dazzling new face in Vikram Bhatt’s forthcoming film Bhaag Johnny.

Mandana, who will feature as a lead alongside Kunal Khemu and Zoa Morani in the movie, is the new cover girl for Stuff magazine’s latest issue, where she has revealed some interesting things.

It turns out that one of the most expensive gadgets the girl owns is a water-proof camera. “I’m yet to test it underwater! Maybe, after I buy myself an itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka dot bikini,” she grins. Ooh la la! We’ll sure wait for that one!

Ask her about the simplest gadget she loves and she says, “I’d give that position to my trendy-looking mini hair dryer. I’m a girl who likes to travel light and this one fits neatly into my little traveling bag.”

More on the techno side, Mandana reveals she has a fascination for a big futuristic television set for her living room. “It should be a Full HD web-connected TV, preferably with stereoscopic 3D,” she quips, saying she’s already saving up for something like that. Atta girl!

When Anushka Sharma locked herself in vanity..

The bubbly actress locked herself into her vanity van after she spotted another girl (who is also shooting) in similar attire, makeup and hair style..

According to our sources, “Miss. Sharma was shooting for a skin care brand in Mumbai. After getting ready for the shoot when she came out from van, she spotted an extra on the sets with similar makeup and hair style. The actress was very irked with this and went back to her vanity van. She refused to come out for the shoot. Ultimately the other girl’s costume and look was changed, after which Anushka agreed to recommence the shooting."

However Anushka’s spokesperson rubbished the news.

My kids are still very innocent, completely untouched by glamour world : Madhuri Dixit

Dancing Diva Madhuri Dixit is back on small screen with another season of ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’. She is the reference point when it comes to dance. I was thrilled when I caught up with the charismatic actress with a dazzling pearly smile. Excerpts of interview:

What is new in this season of Jhalak?

We have associated Jhalak with my online dance academy, 'Dance with Madhuri'. On Jhalak, we will teach seven steps in a week. You can learn and upload the steps into my website. We will see it, if someone is good, he/ she gets a reward. The better ones get to come on the show, while the really good ones will get a chance to dance with me. So this time Jhalak is not only for the celebrities but also for the aam janta.

Do you agree when we say that post Madhuri-Era we haven’t seen dancer like you?

That’s your love..that’s your thought (laughs), but I don't endorse it completely. Everybody has their own personality on screen. When you see Priyanka dancing it’s different, she gets her own style. Be it Katrina or any other actress. Everyone has different dancing style. So I think you have to look in that way.

Nowadays who do you think is the best dancer in Bollywood?

Hrithink Roshan, I love his dancing. Recently I danced with Ranbir Kapoor, he also dances very well. The kind of energy he gets on the floor is wonderful.

                                         

What about best female dancer in Bollywood?

Katrina Kaif is good, I like Priyanka Chopra also. After watching Band Baja And Baraat I thought Anushka Sharma dances very well.

Who is your biggest critic?

I am big critic of myself. Whenever I see myself onscreen I think maybe I could have done it even better.

At this stage of your career, what is that one dance form that you want to learn?

I wanted to learn tap dancing and did a little bit of it in Stardust awards; we added a few tap dancing elements. But when I see Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire, I feel I should have learn this also.

Is there any reality show that you watch?

I like American Idol. I like to watch that. I love the singers who come on the show.

You have recorded a song with your mom in ‘ Gulab Gang’. How did you convince her?

It just happened. They wanted a voice for a particular sequence, not a proper song. A couple of instruments play in the background and they wanted to make it realistic, so when the director asked me, we would like you to do it. I thought about it and agreed.

The artistic talent what I have is because of my mother. She is interested in music. She had four children but still did MA in music. She couldn't learn dance but made her daughters learn it. All those things we have got from her.  I tricked my mother (laughs). I just told her to come along as I was recording.  I quietly took her along and asked her ‘just sing one line for me na mamma’. She agreed, after which I said 'Mom, you have made your debut at 80!' (laughs).

How was it working with Juhi Chawla in Gulaab Gang?

She is a very good actress herself and we have very nice scenes together. Bahut mazaa aaya saath mein kaam karte hue..

You are doing films, judging reality show and overseeing household work. How do you manage you time?

Karna padta hai like any other working lady. I think before making my schedules. You just have to be more organized..

How did your children react when they saw you dance number Ghagra from ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’?

The first time they saw the song on TV, they came running to me and said 'Mom, you are on TV'. They are still very innocent, completely untouched by glamour world and don't understand it fully. But they were happy that their mother is on TV.

What kind of films you are looking forward to do.

I am looking forward for more challenging roles. Like right now I am doing Gulabi Gang. We finished shooting for the movie, production work is on. I am also doing Dedh-Ishqiya.

You have lost weight. Was that for a role in any film?

I have lost weight to keep myself healthy (laughs). Secondly, I have to be seen on screen, and I have to be slim because the screen adds a lot of weight.  Thirdly, in our profession, we have to look after ourself because I have to dance and be fit.

How do you keep fit?

Eat very healthy. A workout is very important. don't starve but I believe in a good balanced diet. I have five small meals in a day, each meal after every three hours.
