TELLY DIVA: Affable, beautiful, sweet and stylish Krystle D’Souza
[Article for one of the Fashion Magazine]
She is currently essaying the role of Jeevika in Cinevistaas’ Ek Hazaron Mein Meri Behna Hain on Star Plus. Counted among the most stylish television Bahus she is proudly ruling the hearts of tons of Bachelors. She talked in an elegant demeanor when Perfect Woman’s correspondent K Himaanshu Shukla called her...
She always wanted to be an Air-Hostess but destiny was planning something else for her. She started her acting career with Balaji Telefilms’ Kahe Naa Kahe. “I wanted to be in a profession which had nothing to do with studies; the profession where I could groom myself. I always wanted to work somewhere I could just dress up lavishly, do make up and look beautiful. Thus I thought of being an Air-Hostess since childhood. Also many of my cousins and aunts have been into this profession so I always dreamt of being an air hostess only.”
“Once I was wandering randomly in my college campus; suddenly one guy approached me for the audition for Balaji Telefilms’ new show. I still remember the experience like a fresh incident. I auditioned in a vanity van and luckily I got selected for their upcoming show ‘Kahe Na Kahe’. I found myself fortunate enough to debut with Balaji’s show. Ekta is a magnificent individual and Balaji is like a second home to me. There has been no looking back after ‘Kahe Na Kahe’.”
Kahe Naa Kahe used to air on 9x channel and Krystle essayed the role of Kinjal. After that, she did many shows such as Kyaa Dill Mein Hain, Aahat, Kasturi, Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil and Baat Hamari Pakki Hai. She took a break after Baat Hamari Pakki Hai and went to Canada. Her parents stay there, so she decided to take a break from acting and spend some quality time with them. When she returned back she bagged the plum role of “Jeevika” in Cinevistaas’ show ‘Ek Hazaron Mein Meri Behna Hain’.
Talking about her current onscreen character Jeevika, she said, “Jeevika is an out and out a highly positive and simple Indian girl who loves her sister deeply from her heart. She has been a mother to her sister so she can go to any extent to save her baby sister Maanvi, who is currently suffering from Cancer.”
Krystle is quite similar to her onscreen character Jeevika. Just like Jeevika, she is caring and loving. Both are highly imbibed with high principles and good values and have deference for their family. Jeevika is shy whereas Krystle is extrovert. Jeevika is quite when it comes to decision making while Krystle takes a stand for her thoughts and expresses her feelings wide openly.
Talking about the future plans, she said, “I am doing a daily soap and right now my focus is entirely on it. Off course I also want to act in Bollywood and I will surely do films when I get good opportunity, but right now I am concentrating only on Television. I think it’s the best medium to connect with the masses. I will never leave television for Bollywood afterall television gave me the identity which I am enjoying today. My preference is television and it will be forever.”
Rapid Fire with Krystle...
Krystle’s dream role...
For me there is nothing as such which I would want to call as dream role. I started with a positive role, did a grey scale role (in Kis Des Mein Hai Mera Dil), did a haunted role (in Aahat) and a glamorous role (in Baat Humari Pakki Hai) so you see I have done a variety of roles. There is no genre of roles that I have not tried. I think ‘Jeevika’ is my dream role because it has brought me immense exposure.
Krystle’s dream actor to work with…
I go weak on my knees when I see Hrithik Roshan on screen. Ranbir Kapoor is my crush, my love. I want to work with them.
Krystle’s fitness mantra…
Maintaining your body is a lot of hard work, especially for working professionals like me. I shoot round the clock so I don’t really get the time to go to the gym. I do cardio exercises to lose fat and practice yoga every day. I also do Vajraasana for 20 minutes after every meal. To stay fit one should not starve and eat at regular intervals in small amounts.
Krystle’s beauty mantra…
Smile smile and smile. It makes u beautiful. Since they say it’s contagious it will make a lot of people around you beautiful too. The person dressed up poorly and without any makeup but is smiling would appear more beautiful to me rather than a person dressed up lavishly but is not smiling. Other than smile being natural is the most important beauty mantra. A nice shade of gloss, mascarra and my smile and I am all beautiful.
Krystle’s fashion funda…
Fashion to me is clothes that look good, fit well, suit your body type and are very comfortable. I pick my clothes after putting lots of interest in it and I invest a lot of money also in my clothes.
When Krystle is free she loves to…
Earlier when I used to be free I loved to dance, paint and sing but since now I hardly get time to be called as free; as soon as I am free I either run to a spa for self relaxation or I go shopping. During free time on sets I try covering up my sleeps.
The real Krystle is...
The real Krystle is an ordinary girl who had a very cheerful and pampered yet normal childhood, a bubbly teenage and a hard working adulthood. Though I am a princess but still I dream of living the life of an actual royal princess.
Krystle's message for our female readers...
Don't ever think that you are weak. Now women walk matching shoulder to shoulder with men, so why to feel weak. We women are strong enough to live successfully. I think women can become perfect if she owns a kind soul. Love yourself and enjoy life to the fullest.

Jeevika aborts her baby in 'Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai'
In the coming episode of Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai, Maanvi will take the case back against Jeevika after Jeevika promised that she will not abort her baby. But later she go ahead and abort the unborn. She decided not to tell Maanvi about this and will donate her bone marrow. Maanvi assumed that an unknown donor has donated the bone marrow.
We tried to contact Krystle but she remained unavailable to comment where as Niaa said, she is not aware about the upcoming track.

The battle of emotions for Jeevika in 'Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai'
A couple starts weaving tons of beautiful dreams as soon as they come to know that they are expecting their child. But what happens when that child’s life is at stake intentionally or unintentionally.
Do the parents feel happy to abort their child? The relatives go mad blaming the parents that they could not carry the child properly but for once do they think that the relation of a mother-father with their child is much more strong deep and emotional as compared to grandson/granddaughter-grandmother/grandfather, nephew/niece-aunt/uncle and so on.
The same situation was witnessed in Star Plus’s serial “Ek Hazaron Mein Meri Behna Hai”. In the Mahaepisode aired on Saturday it was clearly shown that how we people in India still get drowned by our own emotions in the name of customs and rituals. As per the story; Maanvi (Nia Sharma) is fighting for her life and the only way to save her is bone marrow transplantation at immediate basis.
Since the matching donor is almost impossible to find at such urgent notice so Jeevika (Krystle Dsouza) compelled by the current situation decides to abort her 10 weeks child so that she can save her baby sister by donating her bone marrow. When she reveals this bitter truth to her family after gaining the support from her husband Viren (Karan Tacker), the reactions that come out is the most shocking thing for the couple. Maanvi’s reaction of being against Jeevika was justified since nobody in this world would want to live at the cost of a child but not even a single family member supporting them in saving the life of living person rather than to think about the one who has not even entered the world was quite shocking.
The Saturday’s maha episode witnessed a high voltage court room drama where the two sisters fought the court case for each other’s happiness. Everything was very much perfect about the episode. The dialogues were very well written and executed. The flashback scenes were used perfectly and the editing job was commendable. The essence of the show which the show used to bear in its initial days in October was clearly visible in the one hour special episode once again. The actors too did a great job but definitely Krystle Dsouza was the show stealer for the evening. One could feel the pain in her eyes, in her voice and her body language. Krystle did complete justice to the show and to her character that day. No one else could portray Jeevika so naturally the way Krystle did.
The final speech presented by Jeevika in front of judge was surely the best scene of the show. The remembrance of the teachings by her Mother that “Badi behen maa jaisi hoti hai” was eye catching and Jeevika was trying her best to fulfill the promise she gave to her mother to take care of Maanvi as her first child. Through her speech she questioned the Judge, her family members, the audience in the court and us the viewers of the show that if we were at her place what would we do. How would we choose one out of our two children? Is the unborn life important or the life who is about to die and will never return? Her speech made each and every person speechless as nobody had the answers to her questions.
Like the coin has two sides; the story too had two sides. On one hand where Jeevika is ready to sacrifice her own child to save her baby sister Maanvi, on the other hand Maanvi is not at all ready to live at the cost of her niece’s life (she assumes that a baby girl will be born). She says that it’s thousand times better to die rather than to live by killing an unborn life that is not even capable of saving herself/himself. Emotionally Maanvi is right but practically Jeevika is right. But in a country where we choose to be emotional over being practical, everyone is supporting Maanvi and cursing Jeevika of being a heartless stone.
Towards the end Jeevika leaves everyone juggling with thoughts by asking that what if she losses Maanvi now and later due to depression she losses her child also? She compares Maanvi to the blood flowing in her nerves and she says that when blood will not be there in her body then there are no chances that she will be alive so obviously her child will also die eventually. In that case she won’t have anything left other than to cry empty handed. This question of hers compels every human to keep themselves in Jeevika’s place and give a thought to it.
The power packed episode ends with the Judge saying that she will announce her final verdict on Monday. The episode out and out was a great mixture of dramatic emotions, some honest theories and some practical conversations thus earning it a hit status. It is guaranteed that each female viewer must have shed tears along with the loving sisters.
Now we have to wait and watch to know who wins however at the end of the day the loss is of Jeevika in both cases. If she saves her sister then also she is losing her child and if she saves her child then she is losing both her child and her sister. Scrutiny says if we have to choose a way from the two ways where we know that both ways will give you pains then it is better to choose a way which gives you less pain.
Scrutiny would surely like to know your take in this situation. What would you do if you were Jeevika?

"Don't kill the innocence of children!.." : TV actors talks about Child Sexual Abuse
Any interaction between a child and an adult in which the child is used for the sexual stimulation of the executor or an observer is considered as Sexual Abuse. It often involves direct physical contact, touching, kissing, fondling, rubbing, oral sex, or penetration of the vagina or anus.
Child sexual abuse is one of the common issues which need to be dealt on priority basis because it directly affects millions of children across all social, ethnic, religious, and cultural groups around the world.
As reported earlier that probably the second episode of Aamir Khan’s much talked show ‘Satyamev Jayate’ will cover people who have survived sexual abuse. Gorgeous Shri Devi will probably come as a guest. Thus we decided to talk to few actors from the television fraternity to know their views on Child Sexual Abuse.
I personally never came across any child who was sexually abused till today but I know that such a heart wrenching crime exists. It’s a very irrelevant deed which needs to be stopped completely. It’s a mental torture to the person who is sexually harassed. When a child is harassed, there are chances that the child might go into trauma and become insane. Sexually abused child suffers for his/her entire life. Woh jaha bhi jaayega usse ye darr laga rahega ki yaha bhi koi na koi usse sexually harass na kar de.
Parents should be very careful and concerned when it comes to such a sensitive topic. They must educate their children properly. I think schools should take an initiative to spread awareness amongst children.
I don’t have words to express my feelings about such a disgusting issue. Raping a child is not only exploiting her/him physically but it’s even raping him/her mentally. The scars of such an incident are always alive in the mind and heart of victim and he/she is unable to live a normal life. The memories of such accidents haunt the victim lifelong.
The person who commits such a low crime of ruining the innocence of a child is not a human. He is a devil and should be hanged till death. I think the person who exploits a child is not mentally fit. He/she is a psychologically sick person because a normal person cannot molest a child, an epitome of innocence. This is so shameful.
Education is the best and only source to put a pause on such a deadly crime. Awareness should be spread among children to keep them safe. Parents should leave their hesitation and explain their young ones about good and bad touch. Children should be that much aware that they should be able to realize the intention of a person by their slightest stroke.
And this can only be possible if parents become open and interact with their kids as much they can and help them grow smart.
I think that I am very lucky as I never went through sexual abuse in my childhood. I feel blessed as my childhood was very joyful. But yes undoubtedly I have heard about many such incidents where innocent children undergo mental and physical torture.
One of my friends told me that she underwent through this sexual abuse while she was a child. Her parents were working and she used to stay whole day with her housemaid. Her neighbor who was 20-25 that time tried to molest her. She was so scared by such a terrible event. She could not share this with her mother also due to lack of open minded talks between children and parents.
I remember one more incident which will give you goose bumps on hearing. One of my friends is a dance choreographer and he takes dance classes in Malad. He has an assistant named Sunil. Once my friend went out of town so Sunil was taking the dance classes in his absence. The age group of children was 3-6. When my friend returned he threw Sunil out of job. I was so surprised when I came to know that Sunil is no longer working with my friend. When I asked him the reason he told me that Sunil tried to molest one of the students whose age was just 4 years. In my opinion Sunil must have been sent to jail as he might try molesting someone else.
I just want to say one thing that its parent’s duty to treat their children like friends. Parents and their children should have such an equation that children can talk about anything and everything to their parents without feeling shy and parents should be able to answer their questions without any hesitation. The perfect bonding between parents is developed only when children feel hassle free while talking to their children.
The second incident where I came across Child Sexual Abuse was when I visited a small hotel. I met a girl who was working there. I am very talkative so I start talking with anyone. Out of a blue I asked her, tum yaha ki nahi lagti hoo? She told me she was from Orissa. Baaton batoon mein she started crying. When I asked her why she was crying, first she refused to reveal but I convinced her to open up by talking politely with her. I was stunned when she told me that her mom wants to sell her to an old man. She even lifted her skirt to show that she is a virgin. Because of this she ran from her house and came to Mumbai and started working in that hotel. I could do nothing but think about her even after many days of meeting her so I decided to help her. So I went to that hotel again but by then she left that job.
I don’t know why parents do not support their kids. They have such an important role to play in helping their child recover from sexual abuse. Why don’t they open up with their kids? Why sex education is not provided in schools? People say parents should treat their kids like friends but this is just a mere saying. I think parents and kids need to be buddies who can share everything with each other.
I've never met a single sexual harassed victim. But yes I heard a lot about this. Abusers and abused surely exist in our society. Sadly the abused children are afraid to open their mouth because of lack of support from their near and dear ones.
I never came across any such incident but heard a lot about it. My take on this is that the people who commit such shameful acts with innocent children are mentally retarded. Abusing a child sexually sounds so weird in itself upon hearing. How can people think about doing such deed?
Parents should be extra careful and protective towards their children. Even I have a 4 year old daughter. We never leave her alone. Either I or my wife Pari is always there with her. Don’t leave your children alone even for a moment especially with strangers or maids.
Teach your children about their bodies. There is nothing to be shy about while educating your child about such sensitive stuff after all by doing this you are making them aware about keeping themselves safe.
Important points to remember
Child Sexual Abuse includes
Myth: Child abuse doesn't happen in GOOD families.
Fact: According to the research, Child Abuse crosses all racial, economic, and cultural lines, it doesn't only happen in poor families or bad neighbourhoods.
Myth: Child abusers are strangers.
Fact: While abuse by strangers does happen, overwhelmingly, a child is abused by someone she or he knows. Studies confirm most abusers are family members or others close to the family.
Myth: Abused children always grow up to be abusers.
Fact: Some sexually abused children become child abuser; consciously /unconsciously repeat what they experienced as children. It’s also true that many adult survivors of child abuse have a strong inspiration to protect their children against what they went through and researches show they become excellent parents.
It’s a serious social problem; much more public attention needs to be paid to this topic. Most of the parents (especially Indian parents) are unsure or particular about bringing up sexual matters with their children. Open up; establish an open dialogue about sexual issues.
The sexual victimization of children is ethically and morally wrong. Don’t let anybody to snatch the innocence from our kids.
Silence is crime..raise your voice against Child Sexual Abuse!..
Your comment, feedback and suggestions would be greatly appreciated...
Be Blessed,
-K Himaanshu Shukla..

Unfortunately I met two children who were sexually abused in their childhood. When I was in class ninth one of my classmates, who became my close friend, told me that she was raped by his uncle when she was 11 years old. I was shocked to hear this. The saddest part was that her parents did not treat normally after this incident like they used to as if it was her fault. I lost touch with her. I hope she is all right and doing better in life.
The second incident where I came across Child Sexual Abuse was when I visited a small hotel. I met a girl who was working there. I am very talkative so I start talking with anyone. I've never met a single sexual harassed victim. But yes I heard a lot about this. Abusers and abused surely exist in our society. Sadly the abused children are afraid to open their mouth because of lack of support from their near and dear ones.
Most of the parents do not talk about such issues with their kinds. Though some parents are quite open but they generally teach their children about STRANGER DANGER. But I think most of the children are abused by their family members. As per my understanding, danger of sexual abuse usually lurks around our own home. Today the kids are smarter and mentally they grow very early. Parents should open up and discuss everything with their kids. Hum Kisi insaan mein se haiwaaniyat nahi nikaal sakte par apne bachho ko toh bachcha sakte hai.
Just one kind request to all, please ghar mein kam age ki ladkiyon ko kaam par mat rakho. Most of the maids are harassed by their owners.
Parents should be extra careful and protective towards their children. Even I have a 4 year old daughter. We never leave her alone. Either I or my wife Pari is always there with her. Don’t leave your children alone even for a moment especially with strangers or maids.

The myths/ misunderstandings and victim-blaming associated with child sexual abuse shifts attention away from perpetrators and innocent silences survivors. Do’s and don’ts for the parents when they speak with there sexually abused kids:
- Do's
- Be open and clear
- Tell them you believe them, restore confidence and support them
- Assure them that you will them and will keep them safe
- Tell them you do not blame them. They will feel shame of sexual abuse which will make it very difficult for children to come forward.
- Let them know you are glad they told you about the abuse
- Make time to spend with your child and talk to them privately. Allow your child to talk about how they feel.
- Stay calm while talking with your child as they may be confused by anger
- Respect your child’s wishes and be sensitive to their emotional needs
- Contact a mental health professional with expertise in child trauma
- Don’t
- Play blame game. Your child is not responsible for what happened
- Advise that it would have been better if they had not told anyone
- Tell your child to forget it ever happened or force them not to talk about it
- Get upset when your child talks about the abuse.
- Blame yourself for what happened
- Grill a child for every detail by asking too many questions, this may confuse and upset the child and make it harder for them to continue their story.
Be Blessed,

An Evergreen Vogue : Turn Sisters Into Sisters-In-Law
The TV world is known as a religious follower of a trend. A fashion started today will be followed by numerous writers for ages.
If I am not wrong this idea of two sisters turning into sisters-in-law was brought up by none other than the Daily Soaps Queen ‘Ekta Kapoor’ herself in her show ‘Kundali’. When the sweet and loving sisters ‘Aarti’ (Nivedita Bhattacharya) and ‘Vidhi’ (Prachi Shah) became sister-in-law that too the elder became younger and younger turned into elder; the audience was quite amazed and shocked at the same time. This concept garnered lots of TRP’s to the channel as the audience could do nothing but stay glued to their TV screens.
This fashion abandoned for some time came back in action again when the renowned producer ‘Rajan Shahi’ gave birth to ‘Sadhna’ (Sara Khan) and ‘Ragini’ (Parul Chauhan). The magic was once again spread on TV screen by these soul sisters. Destiny and the script writer together turned these soul sisters into sisters-in-law again younger becoming elder and elder becoming younger. The show ‘Sapna Babul Ka Bidaai’ was undoubtedly a massive hit. The show still has a great fan following and the fans still hope for a sequel for the serial even after almost 1 and half year of shutdown of the show.
After Bidaai, this trend had no looking back. Writers one after another used this concept in their story. The serials which initially didn’t have this element in them also brought in this concept to attain some TRP’s.
Color’s show ‘Sasural Simar Ka’ is one perfect example to prove this. A story which was supposed to be a light hearted comedy also adopted this vogue so as to lead the TRP charts by turning the sweet and chubby ‘Roli’ (Avika Gor) into the elder sister-in-law of calm and lovely ‘Simar’ (Dipika Samson).
The Story does not end here. The very popular and in-demand show ‘Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon’ was also seen to have followed the same path when the sisters ‘Khushi’ (Sanaya Irani) and ‘Payal’ (Deepali Pansare) got married in the same household and became sisters-in-law.
Another show ‘Sasural Genda Phool’ also could not resist itself from using this vogue and thus in its last episode the sisters ‘Suhana’ (Ragini Khanna) and ‘Sanjana’ (Tapeshwari Sharma) fulfilled this trend by getting hooked up as sisters-in-law.
These were a few examples where the sisters didn’t remain sisters so as to bring in the TRP’s. But the interesting fact to look forward is that whether the serial solely made for the sisters will also diverge the sisters into sisters-in-law or not.
Made for one another ‘Jeevika’ (Krystle Dsouza) and ‘Maanvi’ (Nia Sharma) share an inseparable bond. This serial ‘Ek Hazaron Mein Meri Behna Hai’ has generated a place for itself in the hearts of millions in very short period of time. The show is immensely popular among youngsters, females and surprisingly males as well. The show is doing well as of now and the credit goes to the new approach being put, simplicity, no high drama and last but not at all least the blood tie of the soul sisters. But the question is that whether these sisters will also change their relation. Well the answer is quite obvious as already the brother-in-law of Jeevika is in love with Maanvi so we can soon expect the changes following this story as well.
The Vogue started by the queen of Tellywood has been followed religiously and will be followed for years. Let’s wait and watch that which serial becomes a hit and which serial becomes a miss despite adapting the ever green trend.

Karan Tacker is the new man in Krystle’s life..
Relationships are hard to maintain especially in glamour world. Buzz is that Krystle D'Souza and Abinav Kapoor, the much-in-love couple have broken up.
Krystle is currently seen in ‘Ek Hazaaro Mein Meri Behna Hai’ came to the limelight with ‘Kahe Naa Kahe’ and ‘Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil’. She started dating his ex-costar Abhinav Kapoor, the duo met on the sets of ‘Kahe Na Kahe’ and slowly they developed feelings for each other. They stayed in relationship for about 5 years.
She seems to have moved on, 2 months after splitting from Abhinav. Karan Tacker(‘Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai’ co-star) is the new man in Krystal’s life, they seem to be inseparable everywhere they go, unperturbed by prying eyes. The two are very much in love but refuse to admit the relationship in public.
When I called them to confirm the news, both denied the news and said they are just good friends, roam around together and help each other when in need.
