Akkshay Kumar to sing Qawali on small screen

From bashing the bad boys in his movies to romancing with the leading ladies to tickling the audiences with his coming timing, Bollywood’s Khiladi Kumar has impressed his fans in every role he had played. This multi-talented star amazed everyone when he crooned a romantic song- Mujh Mein Tu for his movie Special Chabbis for which he apparently underwent a five months training to perfect his voice.

Akki has once again made use of this training and this time on small screen. While performing for a special Eid show Jashan-e-Eid soon to be telecasted on COLORS, the actor sang the famous qawalli- Chadhta Suraj.

He sang the Qawali with the famous Pakistani Sufi duo Shabiri Brothers, when he decided to dedicate this song to an old college-mate of his, who he lost years back. He said, “This song is dedicated to a very close friend who passed away at a very young age. We used to hum this song together in college and I miss him whenever I hear it. The song is very close to my heart.”

So compassionate was his voice, Akki stirred everyone present on the sets with his genuineness and sincerity. He was performing with the star cast of Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobara when his emotional side came fore on stage.

The show will go on air on August 11, 2013 on COLORS.

Laal chiffon ki saari mein lipti..woh ladki!..

Woh ladki..laal chiffon ki saari mein lipti..

Subah ki iss baarish mein kuch beegti,
kuch khud ko bachaati..

Kaajal se saji aankhon se mujhe ghoor ke dekhti..
Aur fir kap-kapaate haaton se apni chatri ko sambhaalti..

Sard larazte hooton se aakhir bol hii padi 'Kabhi Koi Ladki Nai Dekhi Kya?'

Usse kehna toh bahut kuch chaha par sirf itna keh paaya, 'Suna Hai Saamne Wali Dukaan Pe Samose Bade Achche Milte Hai'..

Usne zara sa sharmaate hue apna pallu sambhaala..aur auto-ricksaw mein baithte hue boli, 'Aaj Nahi Janaab..Phir Kabhi. Kisi Aur Din'..

Mera Dil phir ek baar ek kaanch ke glass ki tarah waqt ke haath se fisal ke toot gaya..

Evelyn Sharma secretly celebrates her 23rd birthday in pomp and style!

High on the heels of superhits Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Nautanki Saala, actress and fashionista Evelyn Sharma brought in her 23rd birthday with a lot of zest and zing at Bandra hotspot Polpo this week.

And though she celebrated in typical Bollywood pomp and style, surprisingly the event was kept a hush-hush affair from prying cameras. Even some paparazzi was cleverly misled while her party raged on till late night with flowing red wine and a Cinderella-engraved cake.

In attendance were personalities from the fashion, film and business circles. Some of the names we stumbled upon include actors Prateik Babbar, Nathalia Kaur, Izabelle Leite, Madhura Naik, business tycoon Ashish Raheja, ace designer Rocky S, Sonam and Paras Modi, producers Dhaval Gada of PEN and Vishal Gurnani of The Entertainment Hub, photographer Vikram Bawa, singer Aditi Singh Sharma and DJ Deepesh Sharma aka Mr Right.

Having returned from IIFA last week, Evelyn is now gearing up for her next two releases this year. While she has a role with Prateik Babbar in Issaq (Manish Tiwary’s Hindi remake of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet), the gal will also be seen playing an angelic dream girl in T-Series’ Yaariyaan; the directorial debut of Super Cassettes icon Bhushan Kumar’s wife Divya Kumar.

A rocking year indeed!

Iranian beauty Mandana Karimi to debut in Vikram Bhatt's Bhaag Johnny

Beauty and Bollywood go hand in hand since the days of Madhubala and Meena Kumari. Be it Sharmila Tagore, Zeenat Aman, Parveen Babi, Aishwarya Rai or Katrina Kaif; they’ve all impressed us by their looks before they made a mark with their talent.

Now joining the list of the industry’s most gorgeous new faces, is a stunner called Mandana Karimi.

An import from Iran, the babe will hit the silver screen in maverick director Vikram Bhatt’s forthcoming film Bhaag Johnny as a lead alongside Kunal Khemu and Zoa Morani.

Born to an Indian father and an Iranian mother, Mandana grew up in Tehran, before globetrotting and landing in India and being discovered by Vikram Bhatt. The gal may be a looker, but the actress in her is more concerned about versatility.

“I don’t want to be known just for my looks,” she quips. “I’m ready to experiment with roles from everything cliché to bizarre. My aim is to enact varied characters with all kinds of shades,” remarks Mandana. But ask her about her role in Bhaag Johnny and all she says is, “Wait and watch. Let me not spoil the surprise.”

Coming from a foreign country, one might think that Mandana would have to learn Hindi first. But the gal reveals, “I can speak Hindi pretty well, though I’m working on perfecting my accent now.”

What’s more! Mandana has walked the ramp for many fashion designers including JJ Valaya, Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, Rohit Bal, Anna Singh, Satya Paul and even done an advertisement for Royal Stag with none other than the Badshah of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan, and another one for Sony Ericsson with Kareena Kapoor.

With her debut film nearing completion, Mandana sure makes an interesting debutante to watch for!

If there’s fear, you will never grow: Dia Mirza

Macau, July 11 (IANS) She was a teenager when she won the coveted Miss Asia Pacific title in 2000 and, since then, Dia Mirza has been smiling away as an actor, social worker and now, as a producer. But she is glad that she has been able to evade the “pretense” which often comes with stardom.

“Stardom sometimes can bring a lot of pretension in your life. I’ve noticed that a lot of people around you change, and that is scary. I’ve tried to stay the same,” Dia said in an interview to IANS.

“It (stardom) has bothered me. I will be dishonest if I say it hasn’t. But it hasn’t overwhelmed me or destroyed me,” added the 31-year-old, who battled relationship rumours, comparisons and competition to come into her own in the multi-billion dollar Indian film industry.

“I have given my shot to acting,” she said, opening up about broadening her horizons within filmdom through her movie production banner Born Free Entertainment.

“I gave a good 10 years to acting. Now my horizons are expanding and I’m exploring myself. I’m optimistic and happy with my company. Cinema is my passion, but I will not destroy my self-esteem by being a part of films which I am not a part of,” she added.

Dia made her Bollywood foray with “Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein”. Her endearing smile did wonders for her, and she went on to feature in several films like “Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge”, “Tumsa Nahin Dekha – A Love Story”, “Parineeta”, “Dus” and “Lage Raho Munnabhai”.

But she couldn’t match the success of Lara Dutta and Priyanka Chopra, who bagged the Miss Universe and Miss World crowns respectively in the same year as Dia. She agrees, and says it is only her audience’s perception that has mattered to her.

“I’ve never been crushed by the industry’s perception. I’ve always been motivated by the audience’s perception. People love me, and no one can change that. From where I came and how I started, I’ve got more than what I could have asked for. I have only gratitude. But if you compare me with my contemporaries, then maybe I didn’t do many big films, or I did big films, and they didn’t do well,” said the actress.

Dia is only bothered about competing with herself. “If there’s fear, you will never grow. When you are competing with other people, you have fear and then you can never grow,” she said.

She says film offers never stopped coming to her. But “nothing” was “exciting” enough.

“There are so many young girls who have come into the industry now who have been a part of successful films. I think all the new and good filmmakers are looking to cast them. This can be extremely terrifying for an actor,” she quipped.

But she is undeterred.

Dia believes people will remember her for her hard work, and says that she finds solace in indulging in social work.

“The one thing which I have earned which no one can take away from me is my hard work. My social work gives me so much inspiration. It is much more than what my films have given me,” said Dia, who works with different organisations and causes for society’s benefit regularly.

Sanjeev Bhatt and Jaya Ojha as Gopi's parents in Saath Nibhana Saathiya

Certain section of media has already reported that Gopi’s (Devoleena Bhattacharjee) family will be soon introduced in Saath Nibhaana Saathiya.

Now we heard Sanjeev Bhatt (who played South Indian producer in Ayushmann Khurrana starrer 'Nautanki Saala') and Jaya Ojha (who played Simar's mother in Sasural Simar Ka) are roped to play Gopi’s father and mother, respectively.

Sanjeev's character holds the record of longest moustache, which actually touches the ground. He has declared that he will not cut his moustache until he finds his daughter Gopi, who was lost at the Kumbh Mela when she was just one year old.

Gopi’s mother has lost her memory from the time she lost Gopi. Still she assumes that her daughter Gopi is a one year old kid. In the upcoming track Gopi’s mother will mistake Meera as Gopi.

A contest will be going on to find the person with longest moustache at a restaurant. This is when Gopi's parents will be introduced in the show.

Now, only Urmila recognises Gopi's father and she will try her best to hide the truth of the family from Gopi and her in-laws.

The channel is still looking for an actress to play the part of her sister. Initially Devoleena was expected to play double role of both Gopi and her sister. However there is still no clarity on that front.

When contacted Sanjeev said, “Yes I am playing Gopi’s father and I already started shooting.”

Jaya confirmed the news and said she will start shooting from tomorrow.
