How your favourite TV stars planning to celebrate Holi this year?

Splashing coloured water, tossing water balloons on each other, smearing friends with gulal, exchanging Holi gifts, gorging the delicious gujiyas, listening and dancing to evergreen Holi songs, and finally getting carried away with Bhaang & Thandai is the order of the day for an ideal Holi. As this colourful festival is on a roll, we talk to our TV screen rulers and check what they are upto for this Holi.

The cute bubbly and colourful Jeanie aka Giaa Manek shares, "Holi is one of my most favourite festivals, but there is something I dislike about it too. Since the colour cause lots of pollution to the environment as well as make the places dirty so I would really like if we could restrict colour usage. This way we can save environment from pollution as well as limit the use of water as we have water shortage this year. So instead of playing with colours, getting drenched and bathing for long hours, I am planning to shoot and work on the festive day and celebrate it with the cast and crew by having an Eco friendly Holi using flowers".

Famous for his sexy lips, the hot and happening Saras from the newly launched show Saraswati Chandra aka Gautam Rode quips "Holi brings to mind the thoughts of bright and vivid colours being splashed on one and all, and I love to drench myself in colours of various hues. I will be celebrating this festival with my friends and family."

The heartthrob of many, Tina Dutta shares, "I will be spending Holi with my close friends and family. I hate chemical based colours, as they harm your skin and eyes. I remember I got itchy red rashes last year because of chemical based colours so this year I am determined to use ONLY natural colours. Also I would want to request everyone that please don't waste water and avoid using plastic bags and water balloons. Holi is a festival of joy, so please spread happiness."

The daring and outspoken Beendni Sa, Deepika Singh from Diya aur Baati Hum divulges, "My tauji expired in December, so I am not celebrating this year."

Karan Sharma who is currently seen in Zee TV's Pavitra Rishta verbalizes his Holi plans as, "This is my favourite festival and I love getting coloured completely. Every year I celebrate this festival but this year I have decided to save some water as our Maharashtra is facing drought. I will play Holi with natural colours without using water. I also might go out with my friends. We waste lots of water every year during Holi and this time when we are coping with shortage of water I request each and every one of you to save water."

The shy and calm Gopi Vahu originally known as Devoleena Bhatacharjee affirms "After a long time my family is with me, so I'll celebrate with them. If I am shooting then I will surely play Holi on the sets. If I get an off from shooting then I will plan something with my family and friends."

Shashank Vyas popular and loved as Jagya too has something to add, "We are shooting cut to cut for Balika Vadhu, so probably I will be spending whole day while shooting. I will miss fun and friends on Holi. Masti has been taken over by work this year. In my hometown Ujjain, we used to celebrate Holi with our entire group."

The immensely loved and missed by fans, Additi Gupta who will be hitting the TV screen with out and out a new avatar expresses, "Our show Rishton Ki Badalti Daastan has just begin, so we will be shooting for that. I want to celebrate par iss saal Holi pe chutti mil jaaye wohi bahut hai."

Holi is undoubtedly a very joyous festival that holds a great importance in one and everyone's life but it is considered a very romantic and special festival by the newlyweds or wedded couples. The newly married couple Ashish Sharma and Archana Taide Sharma are also too excited about this festival and they whack out their Holi plans. "Last year I celebrated Holi with Archana at my home in Jaipur as friends and now one year later we are life partners so this Holi I'll colour her with my love," shares much excited Ashish.

Archana too has lots of cheerful plans for this Holi. "I'm a catholic and for 24 years of my life I haven't celebrated Holi. Though I had been for a Holi party, but was never a part of proper Holi celebration where all the rituals are performed. This Holi is indeed very special because this is my first Holi after marriage. Ashish (Sharma) hails from Jaipur so it's very obvious that he loves playing Holi with his family but unfortunately due to our hectic shooting schedules, we won't be able to go to Jaipur. Hence in order to make Ashish feel special, happy and homely, we are going to celebrate Holi in Mumbai with our close friends. We will be following all proper rituals. I have taken all the information from my mother-in-law. Masti with my husband, colours and bhaang is what I'm looking forward to this holi."

Another couple who though is not a newly married but don't lag back when it comes to togetherness, don't have any such plans for this Holi but definitely they have got something to share to make this Holi a happy festival for all. "This year I would say no Holi with water. The drought in Maharashtra is a serious concern. Farmers have committed suicide and the least we people can do is save water resources especially in a festival when it is merrily wasted. Play dry Holi, play less so you consume less water to clean up after Holi,” says RidhiDogra Vashisth.

"Being a painter I love colours, but I do not like to play Holi. Instead I love to play Holi everyday on the canvas haha," speaks up Raqesh Vashisth.

Women's Day with a sassy bunch of Telly Diva's

To celebrate women's triumph all over the nations, each year International Women's Day is celebrated on March 8. In celebration of this lovely day of womanhood, we had a chat with some beautiful TV actresses.

Cute and bubbly Giaa Manek, currently seen as Jennie in Sab TV's show 'Jeannie Aur Juju' is much like her onscreen character.  After playing a dumb yet intelligent Gopi Bahu, she decided to move out and left Star Plus' 'Saath Nibhaana Saatiya' to shake her legs in 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa'. 

For women there are a million reasons to be happy as they end up with two X chromosomes. What in your opinion is the biggest advantage of being a woman?

There are certain things which only we women can execute, like we can give birth. I think motherhood is the biggest pro of being a woman.

Are women weaker than men?

We are considered weak but the real fact is that we are emotionally much stronger than men.

Women play different role in one life span.

As a female we need to be multi-tasked, be it a mother, a housewife or a working woman.

Eve-teasing, physical abuse and even rape are very common social problems. What one piece of advice would you give to the Women to fight back?

It's a very serious issue. My advice is female education. As it is said “When you educate a man; you educate a man but when you educate a woman; you educate a generation.” So it is very important that all the females get good education. It will ultimately enrich them as a human to stand for their rights, have courage and be brave.

Any message to the readers of Scrutiny?

Be happy to be what you are, try to improve everyday and think what you have done for others.

Tina Dutta started her career at a sheer age of 5. She starred in Bengali Film 'Choker Bali' with Aishwarya Rai and further played younger Lolita in 'Parineeta'. She rose to fame after she starred as protagonist in Colors' show 'Uttaran'. Currently she is playing dual role of Ichcha and Meethi in the show.

What in your opinion is the biggest advantage of being a woman?

Being a woman itself is the prevalent advantage.  We have the ability to give life. No man can ever know what it feels like to give birth. The labor pain doesn't matter when a women holds her new born in her hands.

We are more capable of expressing our feelings while men find it harder.

It is very well known that every coin has two sides and almost every good thing has a darker side. The same goes true with womanhood.

Yes there are so many cons of womanhood too.  Have you ever heard about Adam-teasing, male-feticide, woman burning her husband because of dowry, man gang raped by women? I am sure your answer is NO. I think all these are the drawbacks of being a woman.

What one piece of advice would you give to the Women to fight back?

Women should be independent since it not only make her financially stable but also increases her confidence to fight back. Do not tolerate eve-teasing, domestic violence. Discuss your problems with your parents and if required take help from local police station and also go for counseling.

Any message to the readers of Scrutiny?

Be safe, blessed and spread happiness since you have got just one life. Don’t spoil it with negativity or small issues.

Ridhi DograVashisth started her career with Zee TV’s ‘Jhoome Jiya Re’. This power packed performer and natural actor later did shows like Laagi Tujhse Lagan, Seven, Horror Nights, Swarg but she gained popularity for portraying the lead role in much talked bold show  ‘Maryaada-Lekin Kab Tak’. She will soon be seen in Life Ok show ‘Savitri’ as one of the lead protagonists.

The biggest advantage every woman has is the fact that they are multi-faceted and multi- tasking. They are in touch with their emotional/intuitive side and when required they can easily switch to being more objective and practical. From the world’s renowned CEOs to our house maids; I believe all women have that capability to be able to run a career and be sensitive to their family, elders, spouse, and children.

That's one way of looking at it; I don't look at life like that (smile) and certainly not womanhood. Being a woman is the most beautiful blessing a human can get in every aspect.  But what do concerns the mind are the incidents like the Delhi gang rape and many such cases over the years. As I am from Delhi, I know the mentality of some migrants in the city. If there is a darker side of being a woman, it's the society that comprises of some really mindless men who do inhuman and gory acts towards women.  So it's not the women who have a darker side.  It's the society that doesn't understand their importance and dignity. They fail to absorb the importance of women in this so called 'Man's World'.

Do you believe in equality?

I've always said that I believe in equality. The things men can do women can do too if they had to!! Yes, there are some things only a woman can do and a man cannot even understand, likewise there are some things men do, like wrestle (laughs) that women don't wish too. Jokes apart, I don't think it's important for women to compete with men. Honestly, there cannot be a comparison. The 2 genders are very different and that's the beauty of it all.

There's a piece of blog I had written in this regard soon after the Dehli gang rape took place and I still echo the same sentiments. Women all over should believe in the power they possess. Be alert, aware, and raise your voice, raise an alarm if needed. And the biggest gift we have from god is our intuition. Believe in it. You will be able to take precautions before it's too late. To all the women, I'd also like to say, don't raise yours sons like they are god-sent, or treat your husband's like they are your 'karta-dharta'. I'm not belittling men but just saying, women don't need dependency.  They need to be independently strong. They need to have their own identity and their own mind. Don't ever disregard your sixth sense. If you have an inclining NOT to step into a pub, walk a road, take a bus then please DON'T. Take your own decisions and always be responsible.

Anything you want to do to empower Women?

Yes, I am already a part of an initiative called 'shyamchi aai' which is an NGO started from scratch by my husband and Raqesh's sister Sheetal Bapat. It supports children and girl child in particular who don't have the financial or even the emotional support to study in recognized institutes, schools and study models up to the point of their first job. It's an absolutely brilliant endeavor started by tai, as we call her and I'm glad that I'm a part of it.

'Maryada' and now 'Savitri' your shows some way or another empower women.

 I myself cannot do any acting assignment where I'm playing a weak and submissive girl. I have knowingly walked out of auditions of such roles.  So yes, it's something I do on purpose and I'm more than grateful that I get such offers. Maryada was just that, so is my new show which is called 'Savitri' which will soon be on air on life ok. It's also a story of an ordinary girl who believes in her inner powers when she is pushed to a corner.

Any message to the female readers of Scrutiny?

My message to the readers - you are perfect because you are a woman. You are perfect with all your imperfections. So never doubt your individuality. God made you perfect the way you are… Yes, to enhance it and round it off like an uncut diamond is in the hands of the life you lead. So be open to a life full of experiences, leanings and evolvement. That is the true treasure of being a complete human.

For, women's day I wish all the girls, ladies, women a very happy 'you' day. Don't wait for any man to celebrate your being today. Go out have fun, do what to wish to, put yourself first or the things that give you the most happiness. And always know you are special. Producer responsible for many things, says Shabbir Ahluwalia

New Delhi: Actor Shabbir Ahluwalia, known as the small screen`s bad boy, is enjoying his new role as producer.

Shabbir`s first production venture was ‘Ganga Kii Dheej’ in 2010 and his recent project is ‘Savitri’, a fantasy drama that went on air on Life OK.

"Production is both fun as well as a complex job. When you are an actor, you have a role to play, but as a producer you are responsible for a lot of other things," Shabbir, 33, told reporters.

" `Savitri` is a fantasy show, a first of its kind. The visuals of the show will be an experience for the viewers. It is a very different show," he claimed.

Is direction on Shabbir`s wish list? "Direction is not happening in the near future. One should take up one thing at a time. Producing is exciting me right now and I haven`t thought about directing now. `Savitri` is keeping me more than busy right now," he said.

As an actor, Shabbir is best known for his negative roles as Rishi Garewal in ‘Kahiin to Hoga’ and Milind Mishra in ‘Kayamath’.

He has also worked in movies. His silver screen debut was with 2007 hit "Shootout at Lokhandwala". He later did ‘Mission Istaanbul’.

When asked about the transition from TV to films, he said: "For me, there has been no transition in terms of acting. The medium does not matter to me. TV and films, I believe, have equal amount of reach in term of viewership."

If the script is exciting, he says, the medium doesn`t matter.

Actress Ridhi Dogra Vashisth, who is playing the lead in new show "Savitri", is like her character in real-life too, says her husband actor Raqesh Vashisth.

"She is actually Savitri because she stands up and lashes out at anyone, who says anything against me. She has always been very protective about me, she has always fought for me if I was right, she has always been there," Raqesh said here Monday at the launch of the show.

"Savitri" is the story of a woman and her immense love for her husband Satya and how she faces Rahukaal, the devil, to bring her husband back. The show went on air Monday on Life OK.

Scrutiny in conversation with RaQesh Vashisth who is all set to make a comeback with Sony TV’s upcoming show ‘Hongey Judaa Na Hum’...

Tell us bit about your character..
I am playing a married man Rohan. He is a painter; I am also a painter in real life. I am very happy playing a painter because I think with colors, with canvas, with every stroke you can show a lot of emotions, you can set a graph of a scene.  I can show my anger by randomly painting something onscreen.

Go on..
Rohan is a very hyper guy, his heart and head decisions get jumbled up.  He loves Muskaan (Aamna Sharif) so they got married. But marriage is something which comes with its own baggage and packages; sometimes it’s so difficult to handle. It’s a story of a couple who are going through ups and downs. Destiny plays a big role in our life, that’s what we have shown in the story.  There is a situation when they have to go away from each other but only to come back.

There is a general perception in that Aamna Sharif has an attitude problem..
I heard stories about that she have a lot of attitude and she throws weight around. But when I actually met her, I didn’t feel that ways. I think that she is a nice person to work with. She is very convenient and very cooperative girl.

And what about your onscreen chemistry with her?
We gelled together very well during the pilot shoot. Everyone said our onscreen chemistry is amazing. We are actors; we want to perform our role so we want to get into the skin of the character and chemistry happens only when other person is reciprocative. For a good onscreen chemistry, an actor should not only say his/her lines but also he/she needs to concentrate on other person’s lines also. At the same time the person in front should react properly. Aamna is very supportive and a miraculous co-star to work with. For sure audience will see the mesmerizing chemistry between me and Aamna.

Is Ridhi (Dogra) comfortable if you romance with other actresses onscreen?
I already told her that I have to go out and out to create the chemistry, I hope you don’t mind. She was like, you are an actor and moreover you are my husband now, so I really can’t interfere. She is a practical woman and knows that tomorrow she may gets an offer for a love story then she has to do the same thing.

Are you romantic at heart?
Like a true Virgo, I am very romantic by heart, but I don’t live in la-la land. (laughs) I think you should ask this question to my wife.

Why you replaced 'K' with a 'Q' from your name?
There are so many Rakesh exists in this earth. It’s a very common name and I was surrounded with folks with the same name. From servant to an officer, every third or fourth person name is Rakesh. I decided to a ‘Q’ in my name because sometimes when you saving someone’s number in your mobile you do not write the full name, you simply save it by first name. So if you save my name as ‘Rakesh’, later you may wonder which ‘Rakesh’ is this.  So to make a difference I added a ‘Q’ in it.  I think ‘RaQesh’ look good.

RaQesh Vashisht and Ridhi Dogra to quit Maryada?

Maryada Lekin Kab Tak, late night show on Star Plus which is produced by DJ's Creative which is well known for its bold plot is under scanner. The show had been given plenty time to pull up it socks and improve the TRP ratings, nothing of that sort happened and the TRPs have inch by inch been sliding down.

According to the latest buzz show leads RaQesh Vashisht and Ridhi Dogra are on a verge of quitting the show. They were not happy with there track because they think creative team has lost the plot, RaQesh tried to convince them but all the efforts went in vain. They even had heated arguments, finally RaQesh and Ridhi decided to move on from the mess and put down their papers.

RaQesh and Ridhi remained unavailable to comment.
